Mac/computer techies. A question.
I find that I am often having to refresh my cable modem. My internet connection, for no apparant reason just quits (but the data light still blinks). Any possible things I can check before I call RoadRunner's service dept?
I am running a 500 mhz G4 with OS Jaguar. 640 mgs of RAM.

1. We are having similar issues with some of our DSL customers -
Not the same as cable, I know - but what seems to have done the trick for us is firmware updates on the modems.

Just a suggestion!

2. When I called Roadrunner, they said to disconnect everything
(cable connection and modem), turn them off, and then reconnect them and turn them on. It was something about the equipment having to reset every so often.

6. Its not your computer.
It's your cable modem and ISP.

I've the same problem. It comes and goes. Sometimes it needs reseting every day. Sometimes I go weeks with no problem.

The excuse I've gotten from my ISP is that it happens with they upgrade their firmware. After each upgrade the cable modem's connection is lost and has to be reestablished by restarting.
