5. Here's a link to the Buddhist Education Network
http://www.buddhanet.net/

Riddle me this SweetZombieJesus, have you found out what "Nubian" means yet? I know, but I think it would be a learning experience for you to "scan" the dictionary, if you know what I mean.

3. Buddha has nicer followers, too.
I've never liked the 'Jesus Loves You' horsesh*it. It's a cop out. Some person you've only just met says some dead guy you've never met (and he/she's never met, either) 'loves you.' It becomes a meaningless phrase when slung out in the third person by some person who wants to feel superior. I'm not talking about the posts in DU with the 'Buddha Loves You' or 'Jesus Loves You' headers. I understand where that's coming from given the religious discussions today (I only saw a couple this morning, but assume these types of threads have been continuing throughout the day.) I'm talking about the people I've encountered personally who feel the need to tell me 'Jesus Loves You' after I've completely rejected their ideology. It isn't said nicely, but with smug condescension. I guess I've just run into one too many a-hole X-tians in my lifetime.

4. Buddhists are the only religion I can think of that hasn't had killings
perpetrated in its name. Muslims and Christians both have blood on their hands, but I've never heard of any Buddhists massacreing people.

6. it's not just Buddhism
Infact most Eastern philosophies haven't had bloody religious wars.

Exception to the rule: Hindu extremists starting the early 90s

7. It might have something to do with
the human sacrifices man Eastern religions practiced.

People of all religions, and of none, have committed atrocious acts. It takes more than religion to change human nature

8. Actually
Buddhists in Kara Khitai persecuted Muslims, which is why the Muslims welcomed Jenghis Khan when he conquered Kara Khitai.

10. The only conqueror in history who renounced violence after
being victorious on the battlefield, was Emperor Asoka of India.
He was so repelled by the blood and carnage, he became a Buddhist monk and preached non violence for the rest of his reign.Buddhism is the only religion that does not ask its followers to proselytize others and does not set itself up as the"true" religion. It is up to each of us to put its principles to practice. It is an agnostic religion and does not presuppose the existence of any God .May be that is the secret of its non violent record throughout history.

11. not really
"Buddhism is the only religion that does not ask its followers to proselytize others and does not set itself up as the"true" religion."

Especially on the first part, neither does Taoism or Hinduism or Judaism for that matter.
