Damn....I loved this movie. Heck I'd pay another $8 just to sit though it again because I thought this was a great movie.
My friend Sus (that's her DU Screen Name) and I spent the day hanging out together. Our intentions was to go see "Starksy & Hutch" because we wanted to go watch what we call "Brain Candy" movie (Fun movie that doesn't require too much thinking). But the movie wasn't playing anywhere.
We had just got back from spending the day at the Cat Sanctuary in Delaware and we're trying to figure out what movie to see. Our friend Amy called and wanted to join us and all 3 of us were baffled as to what movie to see. The theaters had either too many kid movies or too many dumb movies. Our only choice came down to Hellboy because everything else did sound sucky (although for a brief moment we considered the Christ movie but only if we got toasted first and we were going to laugh during the odd sections of the movie).
But I didn't expect much from Hellboy. Let's face it, after wasting money to see Spiderman, I swore off all movies based on comic books. Nothing personal - I'm just not into comic books so why would I see the movie???
But I ended up LOVING Hellboy! Movies either make me laugh, make me think, make me cry or keep me on the edge of my seat. This movie did all four of those things. I loved the passion that Hellboy had for both his dad and the girl he pined after. I loved the conflict between good and evil. And damn if Ron Perlman just ruled as this Red man with attitude (and a great sense of humor).
If you're like me and you're turned off by comicbook movies, please please please think twice about that and go see Hellboy. This movie is just two major thumbs up from this gal!!
