I am leaving for my big job interview this afternoon

I am flying out this afternoon. Then I will drive the rental car to my hotel. The next morning I will interview with six different people. Then I fly back home in the evening. On Tuesday, I should find out if they are going to make me an offer or not.
My interview is at the corporate office but my job would only be about ten miles away. I already have a job, but I have wanted to leave it for over a year. This position is a step up in position and pay.
I have anxiety problems though and they have been very strong these past couple weeks worrying about this upcoming interview, how I will tell my boss that I am leaving if I get the position, being sure that I'll pass the drug test, my husband starting a new business, our house guest who I have some issues with. I even had a panic attack for the first time in months last night at Walmart (serves me right for going to there to pick up a plain white shirt).
Tell me that everything is going to alright.

My wife is going through the same thing now. Have you tried some sort of manual hobby, such as knitting, to try to alleviate the panic symptoms? It's worked wonders for my wife.

One task at a time.

Take each issue as the moment requires.

Don't think about the if's, maybe's, should of or could of.

Take a deep breath. Everything will be fine.

Ugh.

I just don't get it. I get apoplectic just driving by one of those wage depressing, lousy benifiting, downtown killing, sprawl inducing, union busting, Public School attacking, Republican donating monstrocities.

My wife gets the same way at WalMart or other places that are crowded and noisy. If we go to WalMart (which we don't do often), Target, or another big box retailer, she usually needs to go home and recuperate a few hours before doing anything else.

I had went downtown to buy new shoes, which I did alright. I walked a short distance away to the downtown clothing store, but they didn't really have any shirts that would be appropriate to wear under my jacket for my interview outfit. I would have to drive 25 miles to get to the mall in the nearby small city, which is crazy on Saturdays. Walmart, which is really busy too on Saturdays, is within walking distance.
The mall is not too far from the airport that I need to go to today but I thought that I would be even more nervous today.

You only have to be yourself to do that.
Don't be too nervous but keep in mind that they expect you to be somewhat nervous. They take it into account.

The tension and nerves are understandable. You won't have to take the drug test right away, will you? Just stay clean until you do. You are going to get through this with flying colors.

After being clean for six weeks in anticipation that there might be a test, I succumbed to peer pressure and smoked two hits of "good stuff" on Monday and found out the next day that I would indeed have to take a drug test if I got an offer. I expect that the earliest that I'll have to be tested is late next week. If it were anyone but myself, I'd tell them that they'd have nothing to worry about. I even bought a test kit to test myself at home before my actual test.

for employment in my businesses. Never show doubt no matter what they throw at you. A little humor doesn't hurt. Take charge but don't ramble. The company is hiring a person not a machine. Beat them up with your strong points and back it up. It's going to be just fine.

You are smart, capable, and can handle this. You are intelligent enough to belong to DU, aren't you. Just keep your wits about you and take it one step at a time. Breathe deeply and focus. They will be lucky to hire you. Let us know how it all goes.:pals:
