2. Harold Budd and Brian Eno got me through the '80s.
I was snatching up anything that had Brian Eno's name on it. While my friends were listening to punk I was mellowing out on an ambient vibe.

I think Brian Eno does wonderful things with time and space in his own music, and wonderful things with timbre and tension in other people's music.

I think Harold Budd writes irritatingly saccharine little tunes suitable for elevators. I can't imagine what Eno sees in him.

Although I must admit I enjoy Budd's collaboration with Andy Partridge, but of course I credit it all to Partridge.
