which would you rather have in a Significant Other...

Me, Id prefer brains... if i cant have at least a half intellegent conversation with somone i get too impatient.

ive got a pretty good idea how this is gonna turn out... but anyway...

on edit: assume that thier looks are average if you choose brains, and that they are of average intellegence if you choose beauty, but keep in mind what average is these days.

since that's not an option I didn't vote. Looks definitely aren't everything, but it does play about an equal role as brains in my attraction to someone.

You have to have something to discuss the other 23 hours and 45 minutes of the day. Besides, I think brains make that better as well. There has to be some chemistry though.
However, one can be a whole package of internals and externals, but it used to be my experience that on occasion, external beauty intimidated many of the good ones and I'd have to make the first move (I consider the good ones more of the brainy, introverted types) and it attracted the assholes. Not that I'm all that either, but for the most part, I'm pretty okay to some anyway.

I went for physical beauty for physical beauty's sake once and was miserable. At some point you really need to talk to the person you're with. Lack of brains is not conducive to that.

I'm not going to flat out lie and say I don't instantly notice physical beauty when it walks across my line of vision, but if the person attached to it opens their mouth and a stream of idiotic crap comes out, beauty turns to ugly really quick. On the other hand, a lack of physical beauty combined with a person's ability to engage me in a meaningful and interesting conversation can create an aura of beauty that is very compelling.

9. I did time with both types.

I broke up with the pretty girl after 6 months. I don't think we ever talked about anything important.

The smart girl broke up with me after two years. She was funny as hell too. I think humor is what I look for most.

An average looking person can become much better looking in my eyes if I think they have a great personality. Of course they have to be fairly good looking before I care a whole lot about their personality. So in the long run brains, but we have to have a fair amount of looks. How smart is Chalize Theron?
