Who is doing a garden this yeMy garden is ready for seeds and seedlings!!!
I'm sorry...little things like this get me overcome with joy! After a very long, very cold winter, I can't wait to plant! I am going to do tomatoes, bush beans, potatoes and maybe some cukes this year. I want to try asparagas but they are very complicated. I've tried carrots before but they come out the size of my baby finger!

What are your plans for a garden this year. :hi:

1. I'm going nuts with the perennial flowers this year.
It's time to stop doing so many annuals -- too much work! I am putting in a tomato plant or two, some cilantro, sunflowers, zinnias, English daisies, gaillardia, Japanese anemones, dahlias, money plants, etc. And I'm mulching like a fanatic to keep the weeding to a lower level.

2. Frangipani's I think
Mrs Eureka has gone on a Frangipani freak out, and the entire house is surrounded by pots with various one in. She has potted almost 100 in the past two months. Sheesh.

We have also planted about 60 fruit trees, and the vege garden haul was excellent too.

Of course, being Down Under, our seasons are reversed, but it has been a good year.

All the best for your efforts Raven!

Oh, and do you force Will to get his hands dirty? I would, but I need all the help I can get.

3. I only have space for a terrace garden, but I always put in
several flats of herbs, a couple of heirloom tomatoes, anaheim chilis, Walla Walla Sweets, and some things for the fall, squash, kale, jack-be-littles.

5. If you have limited space
Check out www.earthbox.com. They over-estimate how many plants you can get in a box and how big your yields will be. But they're wonderful, and best of all, no weeding!

8. Yeah. That's a concept I know as "Square Foot Gardening"
Books and videos by that title have been out for more than a decade now.

4. Already started
My tomatoes are in -- four early girls, one sweet million, and one quali-t 23. Also four pepper plants, snow peas, and pole beans (fortex is my favorite). I'll be doing winter and summer squashes and cucumbers in a bit.

The diva cucumber is to die for. Check it out at www.johnnyseeds.com

6. I helped my momma make a butterfly garden...
with all sorts of pretty flowers that the butterflies like. :)

We transplanted roses, dug a new flower bed around the mailbox, and potted geraniums and petunias for the front porch too. It was good for my soul.

Wish I was there to help you dig in the dirt. :)

7. Well, my 6 strawberry plants from last year have migrated
Edited on Wed Apr-21-04 07:01 PM by tridim
and multiplied into about 50 separate plants and they're already flowering! It's a "good thing" because I love strawberries. I haven't even touched the soil yet, my garden is basically growing itself! :)

I'm going to plant my tomatoes in a week or two. Two varieties max, as I'm out of room in my little plot of dirt.
