What strange foods do your pets love?
Misty loves carrots, grapes, raisins and bananas.

I just found Cider trying to snatch a raisin from my cup.

Do your pets have any strange tastes? (Poop from your other pets don't count!)

1. had a cat that loved canteloupe
If I left one on the counter he would attack while I was at work.....working at the stem end until he could scoop out the flesh.

Our dog loves fresh peas, and is already prancing around the garden where the pea plants are just barely peeking above the soil.

36. Canteloupe is a very healthy
treat for cats. I read in a book on pet nutrition that it's a good additive to their regular diet (I always thought they liked it because the texture is like raw meat)!

She also likes olives, dill pickles, and plain romaine lettuce. No other melon but cantalope, though. I guess she's not so strange, as I see all these other cantalope cats here.

2. Canteloupe, Tomatoes...
And basically anything I eat (except bread). But he'll come running from anywhere when the knife goes in the canteloupe. And I can never leave tomatoes out. I think his favorite delicacy is lizard tail. Always saving lizards from his ferocious jaws, and they are almost always missing their tails.

I used to have a cat whose favorite was fresh banana nut bread. Had it wrapped in aluminum foil on the counter one night. The next day not a crumb left but shreds of aluminum foil all over the place. That one LOVED bread and hated fruits.

4. My Pomeranian will eat anything
Considering he's a dog, that's not a real surprise. But, he LOVES vegetables. If we have salad, he requires lettuce. He loves grapes, bananas, and apples. He also likes tomatoes, popcorn, pickles, and yogurt. And, of course, Kleenex and toilet paper.

Basically, he's a fluffy black freak of a dog, but he's very cute, which saves him from being left at the curb on trash day. :P

18. My cat is nuts for anything dairy.
Which is a shame, because he totally can't digest it and always barfs it back up.

But then Fox barfs a lot. In fact, he wrote a poem about it:

The Great Wheel
By Fox

The more food smells like ocean fish,
The more I long to snarf it.
And once I've snarfed up all its bits,
Then do I long to barf it.
And when I've barfed up what I've snarfed,
I snarf the barf, and then
From snarf to barf, and barf to snarf,
And back to barf again.

From the time the peas start growing til the end of fall, any time we go outside she'll follow us to the garden and eat as many as we'll feed her. She grabs them out of your hand so hard that I've given up holding them for her cause she's nipped my fingers too many times.

She doesn't really like them cooked though. Only fresh.

24. "Marie Provost did not look her best...
The day the cops bust into her lonely nest
in the cheap hotel up on Hollywood west
July 29

She'd been lyin' there for two or three weeks
The neighbors said they never heard a squeak
While hungry eyes that could not speak
said even little dogs, they gotta eat!

chorus:
She was a winner that became a doggie's dinner
She never meant that much to me
Whoa oh poor Marie

Marie Provost was a movie queen
mysterious angel of the silent screen
And run like the wind the nation's young men steamed
When Marie crossed the silent screen

Whoa she came out west from New York
but when the talkies came Marie just couldn't cope
The public said Marie take a walk
All the way back to New York

Those quaalude bombs didn't help her sleep
As her nights grew long and her days grew bleak
It's all downhill once you've passed your peak
Marie got ready for that last big sleep

The cops came in and they looked around
Throwin' up everywhere over what they found
The handiwork of Marie's little dachshund
That hungry little dachshund!"

34. My poodle Awsi craves Klondike Bars
He is 14 1/2 and his eyseight and hearing sadly are almost gone, but the sniffer seems as good as ever.

Whenever I'm indulging in a Klondike Bar or three, Awsi plants himself beside me and waits for me to dump the wrapper in the trash. At that point he'll frantically tip the trash can over (left paw only, only lefty in the family other than myself!) and retrieve the Klondike wrapper, licking it relentlessly before tearing it into a thousand pieces. Awsi seems to prefer the Heath variety.

Otherwise, he'll devour almost any green veggie but green beans are clearly his favorite. When I pour lefotver stew into his bowl, Awsi will carefully lift out all the offending mushrooms and dump them on the floor before proceeding.

My clever little apricot poodle also does not like his medicine, pills the vet prescribes from time to time. He'll separate and spit out, even when I wrap the pill in fresh lunch meat or choice beef. I have to pry his jaw open and jam them in.

squash, carrots, green beans, peas, onions...I swear, he's be a vegitarian if I would allow it! Most of those veggies are in his "spot's stew" (www.halopets.com) and he picks out the veggies in particular. He's also into chocolate, which he shouldn't have! Puck also likes raisins, but in general, she's a health food nut (only really likes the expensive stuff from the health food stores).

My daughter's Walker Hound is used as an indicator as to whether the stuff in the dishwasher is clean or dirty. If Bailey licks the dishes, they're dirty. If she doesn't, they're clean.

Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 01:28 AM by Zinfandel
My dog came from a grower friend of mine, (a Fox terrier) and when I'm smoking, he always comes around for me to blow him a hit of my sweet organic smoke, he adores to get high, then lies down by the wood stove and relaxes,...I give him his favorite food every now and then, a piece of choclate cake or tablespoon full of choclate ice cream...and once in a while a tiny little piece of my pot brownies, and he's just wags his tail, sits by the wood stove and is in total bliss...if he hears me nibbling on another brownie he's right next to me in a flash with his big brown eyes wanting more...but I never give him more then one small morsel once in a while. He's a very, very smart, happy, seven year old dog.

62. My dog loves anything disgusting
Among other things, I've caught him eating the cat's poop and puke, used femine hygene products, and guinea pig droppings- I must admit that the dog's penchant for GP droppings is kind nice since I don't have to go on GP poop searches every time I take the little piglet out.

I've even seen him (the dog) eat his own frozen "poopsicles". I mentioned this to the vet and he said it had to do with the dog not getting enough nutrition from the regular store bought dog food. We now buy $40 dollar bags of Eukanuba every three weeks -which has helped stop the dog eating his OWN poop, but he still likes anything else disgusting. I've never had such a disgusting dog.

:puke:
