8. Go Chargers! I know -- I am a longer-suffering, patient fan.
But we did well today! I say to Eli "Spoiled Brat" Manning -- "Go with God -- to the Giants!" They can deal with your Ego.

12. Yep, he sure... FUMBLE!!!
Fumblitis is rarely cured in the NFL. Ahman Green is a rare exception.

He had fumbilitis problems in his first year but the great coaches at Denver cured that.

14. I think San Diego and Detroit have had strongest drafts so far
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 06:08 PM by mouse7
Chargers traded down a bit, still get a QB that was rated the top of some team draft boards, and add 3 draft picks including a 1st rounder next year. So far Chargers have Phillip Rivers and Igor Olshanski, and have 2 3rds coming up.

Detroit went down one notch, drafted Roy Williams, then manuevered a bit to get the 2nd best RB on the board, Kevin Jones, and get an excellent LB early in the 2nd round.

I think Bills drafted Losman too high. Losman couldn't beat out Patrick Ramsay at Tulane, and Ramsay is pretty flawed.

17. Arizona has had average draft day.
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 06:15 PM by mouse7
Arizona hasn't made any deals to squeeze extra value out of their draft. Arizona was picking third, Arizona is supposed to get good players picking 3rd overall. They did that, but got nothing extra either. Chargers got who they wanted and added a 1st rounder next year. Detroit moved down one pick, got the player they wanted, and set up themselves up to meet their needs at RB with an extra late 1st rounder in this draft, which they used on Jones.

18. Fitzgerald adds to that awesome reciever crop
and Karlos Dansby is a tough, hardworking player and will have a long career and ATLEAST 1,000 tackles. If I was Arizona there would be no other two players I would pick in the same situation. Detriot has everyone beat by a mile in best draft day, but we will never know till the NFL season rolls around.

19. So? How are ARI WRs going to get the ball?
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 06:28 PM by mouse7
Arizona has at best an average prospect QB, and a very weak offensive line. All the wide reciever talent in the world does you no good if the QB is beneath a pile of 6 defenders and a safety for the other team is running the other way for a touchdown with the batted pass he just picked off.

Danby is a solid early 2nd round pick, but Cardinals are supposed to get solid early 2nd round picks with early 2nd round picks. Cardinals found made no steals or deals to improve the position they were in on draft day.

20. Josh McCown played solid last 4 games of the season
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 06:28 PM by Champ
And will do great with Dennis Green. They have the Big Dogs Anthony Clement and Leonard Davis. They also have Jason Kendall who is pretty good. Pretty much the holes are filled and the line is more experienced. You can't keep drafting Qbs and lineman till someone has a bangup rookie year. It just doesn't work like that, you develop your players. McCown sat out 2 1/2 years fine tuning his QB skills, he is better then I thought he would be.

21. Take that noise back to Phoenix.
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 06:35 PM by mouse7
There's a reason the Cardianals suck year in year out. The owner refuses to spend a dime on players once they develop. Bidwell is THE worst owner in the NFL, and there is nothing that's been displayed that changes that fact. Dennis Green is a good coach, but he doesn't walk on water. He can't do miracles with no support from the owners suite.

22. Denny Green=good coach, lousy drafter
Oh sure, he drafted Randy Moss, but did they have much choice when he slid all the way down that far? He passed up Warren Sapp for Dwayne Rudd the year before.

Maybe my opinion of him is clouded by him drafting stiffs like Dimitrius Underwood and Michael Boireau.

All in all, not a bad draft for Denny. He got the guy he desperately wanted in Fitzgerald, and suddenly has the beginnings of a great passing game. His offenses are very QB friendly. Hell, he made Jeff George look good. McCown should flourish this year, but the Cards are still saddled by lousy ownership.

24. Another one man draft for the Dolphins
Vernon Carey is a typical fiery Cane who will play hurt and instantly upgrade the athletic ability of Miami's offensive line, along with free agent gem Jeno James.

But Saturday proved once again the current Dolphin brass is clueless and gutless on draft day. Dump a 4th to move up one spot, 20th to 19th, brilliant. Completely duped by Minnesota and New England. Then we retreat from the 3rd round to pick up a 4th and late 5th. That ignores the value chart of most drafts, especially this one which appears to plummet in talent after about 100 picks.

The Dolphins may have gotten lucky with David Boston, but surrendering next year's 2nd for A.J. Feeley is extremely questionable. Plus the targeted free agent offensive linemen signed elsewhere, other than James. At this point, Miami is probably farther behind New England than at the end of last season.
