Anyone into Dance Dance Revolution?
or as I like to call it, the geek's treadmill

I play DDR for about 20-30 min a day for exercise purposes. It's a lot of fun once you get good at it, and you can burn through the calories pretty fast too.

I have DDR Max for the playstation 2, and 2 modified soft DDR pads. For each pad I got a sligtly larger piece of plywood. I duct taped and then staplegunned the edges of the pad to the board, and then covered the whole thing with vinyl hardwood floor covering. It's not quite arcade, but you don't slide around and can play with shoes. I've gotten up to the point where I can pass almost all (minus max300, paranoid evol - the REALLY fast ones) of the songs on Standard (formerly known as trick mode).

my ps2 has been slowly dying (gets disc read error on cds, sometimes crashes in the middle of dvd games when loading). I'm getting a different computer (i'd say new, but it's a 5 year old mac off ebay), so my pc (athlon 1ghz, gf2mx-tvout) is moving to the livingroom. The plan is to play ddr on the pc with stepmania or dwi. anyone used the pc clones for playing ddr?

anyway - ddr fans! post about your fav songs, hard stuff. i dunno. maybe du has enough fans for a ddr thread.

1. Hell, no.
No amount of exercise is worth listening to that crap.

2. My son has it
He bought it with some of his birthday money last week. I had 25 teenagers in my house last Saturday doing DDR. I sneak on it when the kids are in school and you're right. It is a workout.

Question...if you have vinyl hardwood floor covering on top of it, how do you see where to step? Maybe it's because I'm a newbie to it but I can't imagine not being able to see the buttons. Have you seen the steel pads? One of my sons friends told me she had those. I didn't think to ask but I wondered if you could use shoes on those.

3. the covering is clear
btw - the mod is cheap and easy and makes a HUGE difference in playability from the stock softpads. on the softpads I can't play the faster/harder songs because the pad slides around and bunches up.

if you're intrested in doing the mod let me know and I can post some pictures.

I would be very interested in seeing some pics of your mod. I think I would be more inclined to do it if I could wear shoes. Thank you so much! :)
