San Francisco DU'ers! Please help me out.

Next week I'm visiting SF for the first time, and staying for 2 days. Please let me know what sights are worth visiting, and which I shouldn't bother with.

I definitely want to visit the Golden Gate Bridge area (kind of hard not to I suppose).

Also, I'd like to visit Alcatraz.

Lastly, are the hotels in the airport vicinity in a rough part of town? Presently looking at within 4 miles of the airport.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

1. Rent a car and drive north on Hwy 1

It runs right along the ocean

You might even run across the town of Bolinas. a little town stuck in the 60s, full of hippy castaways. A liberal outpost amoung the back drop of the rich and powerful Marin county elite

2. One great city. Wished I had gone there at 18 as I wanted.

Father said no. Boston would be good enough.I am sure I would have never left. Love my few visits to that city.
