Dental/legal problem please help
I just don't know what to do about this. My dentist sold me on the idea of some crowns I had done last summer. The permanents were put in in August and were uncomfortable in shape and size from the beginning. I returned to his office week after week for adjustments and awoke one night clenching my teeth and experienced severe jaw and tooth pain. I have had TMJ symptoms since I was a teen, but it was always painless clicking.

I sought a second opinion. The dentist said she saw some flaws in the crowns but mainly they were ground too short - hence the clenching. I told original dentist and he decided to treat me for TMJ with weekly adjustments to a bite splint. Eventually, his office manager said, This is ridiculous, you just need new crowns. I told her I agree but the dentist didn't want to. I don't know what she said to him, but she called back with an appointment for February 19th. The temps were great and the TMJ gone, but the lab man took a monthlong vacation and the crowns weren't ready until last Tuesday.

I went in and he said he wanted to put them in without glue - just hold them in place with a bleaching tray. He got them in and they felt too short. He said, Oh they're fine - it's just your TMJ. I said, Okay just put them in, thinking I'll go to an orthodontist for adjustment, but he started acting weird.

He said, I'll put them in, but I want you to sign something saying any further treatment will be paid for by you. It's cost me $5,000 having you in the chair all this time - as though it was my idea! I said, Fine, I'll sign anything you want, just put them in. He said, I need to call my attorney and the lab. He came back all nervous and said he couldn't reach his attorney, but he promised he would put in the crowns either the next day or the day after that.

No call yesterday, and today when I called his office manager said, Oh, he hasn't said anything to me yet, Kay, I'll call you when he does. What the hell am I supposed to do?I've caught him in many lies. I just want to get the crowns in so I can get a new dentist and move on with my life. I don't want to sue - I just want out of this outfit and have for a long while now. Any advice out there?

3. don't let this quack touch your mouth again
Contact a lawyer and get this dentist to pay for a different dentist of your choice to do it right.

4. I have MetLife
When the office manager brushed me off this morning, I called and told my story. The woman is sending me paperwork to file some sort of complaint, though I don't know what good it will do.

5. Good. The insurance co must immediately assign you to ANOTHER dentist, and
have him/her make an assessment of what's going on.

Then take the pig to small claims court for all your problems. Document everything, write it all down, but do NOT go back. And insist the insurance co send you to another dentist immediately. If they refuse ask if your attorney should call and make them a party in the lawsuit as well. (That's called bluffing).

The likelihood of really FINDING an attorney for this is small. But Metlife MUST find you another dentist who will see you immediately.
