Poll question: Battle of the Bands - Elvis vs. Buddy
The Man From Lubbock wrote alot of songs, played a mean guitar, and didn't overindulge himself to death. However, for me, Elvis, the guy that Butthead calls "that fat guy who's on all those newspapers at the grocery store", will alwys be The King. All of the rockers of his era - Chuck Berry, John Stewart, Levon Helm, Kris, Phillips, Hillman, and on and on and on - worshipped the guy.

1. In cases like this...
I'll always go with the guy who wrote, arranged and produced over the guy who didn't... not to diminish Elvis' impact, though...

2. Extremely tough call, but I went with Elvis.
As good as Buddy Holly was, he's not the one that folks in the know call the King of Rock 'n' Roll!

3. Elvis by far
Though Buddy turned out some good stuff. He was a big Elvis fan, too, naturally.

4. I vote for the Dilaudid, Quaalude and bacon-grease casualty.
Elvis: Bigger hits, longer career. Better voice. Better women (did Buddy Holly ever fuck Ann-Margret? Or Natalie Wood?). Better drugs. The Memphis truckdriver is leading on all cards.

Buddy Holly is most remembered for what he might have been had he not died so young; Elvis, on the other hand, is oddly regretted for what he might NOT be remembered as had he not lived so inconveniently long.
