I need some help from Comic Fans here on DU
I'm about to start playing City of Heroes, and I need some ideas for a character.

So...what's your favorite characters or what would you play as a character if you could play a superhero?

3. The problem with him is that he's a flying character
And you can't start off as a flying character in City of Heroes.

4. Sorry
Know nothing about role games. If Torchie doesn't fly he sets everything on fire.

2. Im not suited for RPG's of any sort
Edited on Sun May-02-04 12:18 PM by tinanator
but I would lean towards something elemental and elegant like the one true Prince of Atlantis, Namor the Submariner. If he could just keep his mind from being erased and/or controlled by others...
Subby always did beat the torch, didn't he?

6. Perhaps so...
In my era, they didn't get together. Namor got some great babes though. (Apologize for non-PC.)

What about Captain America (with Bucky!) or the Blue Beetle?

7. Knowing nothing about City of Heroes...
but knowing my Superhero RPG's, what you take depends on your style...

Bricks: High Strength, High Defenses, these guys put out damage and can take it... easy to play for first character, but gets boring. The Thing, The Hulk, and Colossus are classic bricks.

Energy Projector: blasts of energy! Force Fields! Usually able to fly! The Human Torch, Cyclops, and Storm are Energy Projectors.

Martial Artists: Using skill vice raw power. Depend on avoiding damage vice taking it. Captain America, Daredevil and Nightcrawler all qualify.

Wizard/Psychic: Mental powers. Can be hard to play in combat, but extremely useful out of combat. Listed together because thier powers are often similar, with just different sources/origins. Dr. Strange, Jean Gray, and of course Professor X.

Animal Powers: Pick an animal, what superpowers does that suggest? Spiderman, Wolverine, Angel, and a lot of others have the animal motif.

Gadgeteer: lots of devices, little or no natural powers. Iron Man, Batman, the Punisher are all examples.

Thier are variations on all of these, but those are the 'classic six' that I've seen over and over again.

11. Green Arrow
No super powers except for athletic ability and archery. Maybe other options would be the Batman/Daredevil/Punisher/Question style of urban crimefighter. Or heck, The Flash doesn't fly.
