pray for me
please. I am so unbelievably stressed now. I have so many problems I have to go through I wish I could just drop out of college and go away or even kill myself.

1. RELAX!
Edited on Mon May-03-04 12:18 AM by TXlib
Final exam time, huh?

It's almost over, right?

Just remember, whatever the outcome of these finals, you are at THE MOST FLEXIBLE point in your life. Take advantage of that, and do something constructive with the results of finals week!

2. I highly recommend a long bubble bath, a glass of red wine
and two ibuprofin. Then a long night of sleep and you will feel much better!

3. Prayers sent for you
Just find some quiet time and reflect on what you have to be thankful for. Exercise is also good. Go sweat and tire yourself out. It sounds stupid, but you'll feel better.

4. words of wisdom from an older person
Think back to when you were a teenager and all the things that were so urgent then. Are they urgent now? In the end, everything works itself out. Your desires and needs change with time and as you grow older, the urgency is less and the desire to enjoy is more.
Chin up - my life has been horrific at times but it worked out.

5. Candle burning, incense smoking, prayers uttered ...
and I have even emailed a medicine man regarding your plight and, God help you, he's a Winnebago. So if a 6'6" amerind shows up at your doorstep be afraid, be very afraid. He will throw you unceremoniously into this hellish oven he calls a sweat lodge and bake you to a turn, all while chanting prayers, and all for your own good.

The sweat lodge, methinks, is mostly a way of getting you to stop complaining about physical or emotional symptoms. It sorta works like this. Complain. Medicine man pops out of the closet, seizes you, throws you into sweat lodge. Just when you think you are surely going to fry, he pours water onto the glowing rocks releasing super heated steam into the muddy confines. (The rocks are called "grandfathers", and I suspect they are trying to get even with the people so brought to them.) Your head instinctively buries itself in the mud floor to escape the heat. Right about the time you are convinced your hair is going to burst into flame, you vow never to utter another complaint or otherwise render any possible excuse for being subjected to such outrageous treatment.

Oddly enough, afterwards you feel great. Cleansed, inside and out.

Keep it together, mate. Seems to me there's more than finals troubling ya ... if ya need a pair of ears to hear ya, I'm on call. But if ya do anything foolish, I'll track you down and hand you over to my Winnebago friend.

6. No killing of selfs allowed! Drop out if you have to
In the meantime, watch, read or listen to anything that will make you laugh at all. Focus on breathing; count the damn inhales and exhales if you have to. The hot bath suggestion above is a good one. Hang in there; you'll get through, I promise. But if you decide to do something drastic, do the one that isn't permanent.

7. Life is always worth living!
My once and former left this world when he was 17 years old. He left behind me and a brother who loved him very much.

Relax. Talk to a school counselor, if necessary.

Don't leave behind friends and family. Live your life one day at a time. Take care of your problems in the same way. You will get through it. Have faith in yourself.

8. You can drop out of college
but don't even think about killing yourself. Hang tough -- even though it's hard to imagine now, things will get better.

I'm sorry but this thread needs to be locked because no one here is qualified to give advice relating to matters of suicide.
