Are you ready for...The Horror Channel?
(Well, not quite the Horror Channel, but something close to that idea. I actually think someone else is trying a full-on Horror Channel too.)

Silver Screams To TV

Joel Silver's Silver Pictures (The Matrix) and Orchid Ventures have partnered to form Scream, a 24-hour cable TV network dedicated to horror, suspense and thriller-oriented entertainment, Variety reported. The channel is slated for a January launch, the trade paper reported.

Silver and Robert Zemeckis' Dark Castle Entertainment (Gothika) is on board to create and develop original content for the channel, the trade paper reported.

1. awesome
You'd think they'd have enough movies to pull from. Soooo many good horror movies.

Ahh, horror, the genre that keeps on giving.

2. We Already Have Horror Channels
It's called "Trinity Broadcasting" and "The 700 Club".

And any TV station that carries James Dobson's commentaries.

Now in addition to the Yes Network (home of the NY Yankees), I'll have this to look forward to. :eyes:
Suspense can be good, but horror (as in the mindless slice and dice variety) gets a  .

7. I take exception to your definition of horror...
I would say more:
horror: Frankenstein, Dracula...
slasher: Halloween, Friday the 13th etc..

11. Okay, okay
There are a number of quality classic films, but you must admit when commercial interests rather hijacked the genre, the slasher variety began to dominate. Even the Vincent Price variety of the 60's weren't too shabby, but it seems like when the 70's hit, suspense within horror became rather obsolete that it was all too predictable and gorry.

8. Sounds cool
but I'm not paying for it. I'm poor. And besides, there is a vast amount of horribly sucky scary movies with which to disappoint paying customers. :)
