Have other DUers been there for you, helped you out, supported you?
I just want to thank SusanG, mkuhl and XNASA (and wife Cate) for being there on Saturday for Chicago Indymedia's May Day art party.

Only friends like that would go to a divey gallery in a more questionable part of town and stand around with a bunch of looney leftists to come look at my protest photos that they've already seen posted online.

Thanks so much for coming. It really meant a lot. :loveya:

Anyone else have any stories they would like to share?

1. Yes. I was striking out in my efforts to find Will Pitt speaking locations
A DUer stepped up and got me in contact with KPFT, Pacifica Radio, in Houston. From there, the Austin piece of the puzzle fell into place. It ended up being a very positive experience, but I was a little worried for a while.

Thanks to flush_bush for helping line up the folks at KPFT.

Then there's countless people who make me smile every day. There's no amount of thanks I can give for that.

MrBenchley(You wouldn't believe what DU literary institution he is responsible for...) is gonna help me with the website in my .sig. He is, in fact, a professional writer and believe you me, I need all the help I can get. ;-)

There has been others too, who have been there with just the right kind word when I needed it most. It is hard to express how important that is, at the right time.

Carve out the 1.2% of people, here, that are trolls and instigators(Uhh, you guys can commit osculation on my gluteal protruberance, you anacephalic monobrows) and you won't find a warmer place on the web, anywhere.

5. Oh yeah
If I start listing people I'm gonna forget somebody and I don't want to do that. Instead I'd just like to thank everyone who has ever helped pick me up or who has made me laugh when I really needed it. The list is long...and that says something about the kind of people this place attracts. :)

6. Before I even became a member
when I was still lurking, the members of DU helped me through a tough time.
Last fall when the fires were raging in Southern California, I couldn't get a hold of my sister who lives in San Diego. I tried all the news outlets and couldn't find anyone who was covering the fires closely. I came to DU and the members here were right on top of it. Because of them I found good news sources, and was able to track the fires as well as listen to news reports in the area, so that I knew for sure she had been evacuated.
This is what made me decide to finally become a member, the people here are the best.

7. I want to send a big "Thanks" to Demman
I lost my wonderful dog a few months back to cancer, and everyone here was very kind and sympathetic. I owe a big thank you to Demman for sending me a very sweet and comforting message that really touched my heart. Your thoughtfulness was appreciated very much!

14. DU has saved me, and Evil DUers make it what it is!
I'm not even going to start on the emotional salvation that DU has provided me over the last couple years, but I do want to say that any time I have wrestled with an issue or needed advice, the Evil DUers bave been there for me with advice, encouragement and support.
