Greenfield - An alderman said Friday that he won't remove a female mannequin from his City Hall office despite complaints from some employees who call it sexually offensive.
Ald. Thomas Pietrowski has been sent two letters telling him to remove this mannequin from his office in Greenfield City Hall, city records show. Mayor Timothy Seider says he has received several complaints from female city employees about the mannequin.
There's shock value in it. She startles you when you walk in because you don't expect to see her.
However, Mayor Timothy T. Seider said if Ald. Thomas Pietrowski does not remove the mannequin by May 7, the city will.
"It doesn't belong at City Hall. It has nothing to do with city government," Seider said. "It's improper. When you have females that made comments or complaints about it, that's when you absolutely remove it from the workplace."
Seider said his office received numerous complaints from female City Hall employees about the mannequin, which is clothed in an old gray T-shirt and tattered jeans. The mannequin has brown hair and no hands.
