The totally ridiculous approach to problem solving that all characters in Star Trek have; it's like nothing any human being would do. Any problem in Star Trek can be solved by a variation on this basic theme:

Well, Captain, if we reverse the polarity of the plasma conduits, we can extend a tendril of the plasma into the heart of the gaseous anomaly. This would increase negative radon flux activity by a factor of 500% which would......DESTROY THE ANOMALY! It's...it's crazy Captain, but it just might work! :eyes::argh:

Star Wars is much more down to Earth:

...and here's why: Star Trek has always been about hope for mankind. From it's beginnings in the 1960's (cold war era), its message has always been one of hope for a better future, that we all are not going to go out in a flash and a roar. This hope resonates today; it is one of the few things keeping me sane.

Star Wars took the Literary Fantasy Genre and ripped it off.

I much prefered the force when it was a zen type thing than it is now as a purity of the blood thing

Although I guess in the originals they did say it ran in the family, but it seemed less genetic. Kind of like a knack for poetry or math, not a you have this gene thus you are (fill in blank)

Star Trek is just about how great communism is...which I find less cool that Star Wars.

Also, a fleet of Star Destroyers or Mon Cal Cruisers with fighter complement could ruin the entire star trek fleet. And they can outrun them by a ton (can go faster than light)

If I'm just that little bit 'toasted' I can appreciate STAR TREK reruns. STAR WARS is completely retarded. The original FLASH GORDON serial from the '30s is way better. They used to show them as half hour shows when I was a kid in the '50s.
I admit it. I just don't get STAR WARS. Bad science, bad fiction.

Star Wars robots were slaves, plain & simple. Plus, (if I may stitch two threads together) Spock could, any day of the week, kick Vader's ass into the ground!

But of course, "Blake's 7" isn't in the poll, so I have to put Trek first, even though it's been run into the ground and beyond...

The original SW trilogy had its good points, but it was way too light in its presentation, with "Blake's 7" being a lot more harsh, and it was television. ("Return of the Jedi" would have been infinitely better if it didn't have those wretched Ewoks mincing about. The scenes with the Emperor confronting/chiding Luke were as riveting as Vader's revelation to Like, only there were more Empreror scenes... indeed, that's what made me forgive the scene where we find out Leia is Luke's sister. (which is fortunate, otherwise it would have been yet another ripoff from its own mythology.))

I'm not going to acknowledge that Episodes I and II were ever made, yet alone ever conceived of. :puke:

trek-like status. A reasonable argument could be made for either being superior at this point, but before the prequels Star Wars was clearly the superior article (although there were some rumblings about the Ewoks being a harbinger of impending lameness)
