10. "Hymn 43"...
... I believe, off the album "Aqualung" (which also has Cross-Eyed Mary).

9. We have some roleplayers here
Edited on Fri May-07-04 01:24 PM by Book Lover
I still play regularly: my spouse and a friend and I have been playing a Rolemaster-based game for the past (oh my gawd) 4 years.

on edit: I remember the line as, "Jesus saves and takes half damage," so I googled it and came across this. You thought the Eighties' paranoia about roleplaying was over?

I Was Hooked on Dungeons and Dragons
I didn't know role-playing games could take over my life.
By Michelle M. Woods

...

Ironically, even as I gamed into my college years, deep within me I knew Dungeons and Dragons was something God didn't want me to do. But God had become this distant figure who dished out presents like Santa Claus when I was in need. I figured I could do what I wanted in life, then settle up with him before I died so I could get into heaven.

13. LMAO
I can't wait until my son is old enough to play D&D with me! All my D&D friends have moved away long ago (well, I actually moved first).

Hilarilous that D&D still offends the Christian Conservatives. I remember all that nutty stuff from the 80's. Remember that made for TV movie "Mazes and Monsters" with Tom Hanks that had him so mezmerized by the M&M game that he was about to jump off a skyscraper.

Nutty, nutty stuff.

15. Mazes & Monsters ...
yowza! I am old!

Who else remembers the scandal caused by the issue of Dragon that had the priestess wearing the semi-transparent robe? You could so see nothing, yet the editor's note (what the hell was his name? M-something?) was contrite and abasing... "We crossed the line ... we know our place ..."

17. Did this person ever really play?
I've never heard...

"How much vitality does your character have left?"

In fact, Dungeons and Dragons didn't use vitality at all, at least in 1st Edition.

Plus no amount of vitality (HP?) would mean necessarily that your neck was snapped with one hit.

I think this person is bluffing.

I love this:

"But the reality is, many of us smoked in secret, listened to heavy metal music, and were sexually active."

Oh no! Heavy Metal music!!!

and this one:

"When Mike returned, he was determined to dispose of the D&D materials once and for all—a resolution I can only attribute to God."

Yeah, either God or Hitler.
