What's The Largest Amount Of Cash You've Found?
Returnable... about $100. It was in a wallet, and it was easily returned to the customer.

Cash-money... $20. Just laying on the ground next to a gasoline pump. Whoo hoo... free tank of gas!

1. $100 on the sidewalk.

While entering a nice resteraunt. Treated everyone to dinner, and

4. $600 or so, in a wallet at a hotel, when I was 12 or so
There was ID (tourist from Brazil).
We did turn the wallet in, intact. My dad even speaks Portugese, so he was able to translate between the tourist and the hotel desk clerk.

We did not even get a thank you, let alone a reward.

Anonymous money? Probably a $10.

22. Like you, when I was 12, I found a wallet with $500
Edited on Fri May-07-04 05:27 PM by Arbustosux
With ID. I called the woman and she came over crying and thanking me profusely. She then offered me $5! I declined as apparantly she needed the money much more than I.

That would have bought alot of comic books back in 1970, but my momma raised me right. :)

The three-bill wad was next to a fire hydrant, so I picked it up carefully - but it was cleam and eminently spendable :)

But if you sum the amount of coins I found on the street along the years, it must be a hefty sum.

15. $ 60.00 in 1972
which would be about $ 300.00 now.

On a grocery store floor. We went to the office and asked them to announce that some money was found. Several people came up in the next hour, but weren't even close to the amount. We had a heck of a party that night.

16. $202 non-returnable
2am Sunday morning, convenience store on the ice cream cooler in front of the counter. I saw a $1 bill. Picked it up and there were 2 hundreds and another 1 underneath. The cashier, who knew me, had no idea-several drunks had been in and were "rowdy". I was her next customer.

I left my number and checked back later. No one had asked so...

17. When I was a kid I found about $40
next to a gas pump when we were on vacation.

My mom tried to tell me to give the money to the service station attendant, explaining that it probably fell out of his pocket. My dad told her that it could have just as easily fallen out of someone else's pocket, and since there was no way of knowing, I should keep the money. I kept it.

Once when I was in college, I found a $50 bill blowing down the sidewalk. My lucky day!

23. My young son and I found about $6,000 in a wallet at the college
I was attending. It was the whole semester's money for a foreign student, who, when we returned it to him, actually cried on our shoulders. We were glad we found the wallet, rather than some of our fellow Americans, if you know what I mean.

24. That tops me, I found and turned in a wallet with $4700
In September '96 near a Caesar's Palace restroom in Las Vegas, shortly before 7 AM during the first major Saturday of college football season. The wallet was in front of the pay phone beside me. My call lasted 15 minutes and no one came to rescue the wallet.

I was admittedly tempted, especially after opening the wallet while ascending the escalator and seeing that it was stuffed with nothing but hundreds. But I'm glad I marched directly to security and turned it in. Someone had done the same for me years earlier at Circus Circus, my case rent money inside.

I did not leave my name, but found out years later the wallet and money belonged to a retired military man.

25. £5
Found it on a night out. Was absolutely wasted and headed to a car park to throw up. I'm about to heave and I look down and see a fiver lying exactly underneath my head. The car park was about 50m by 50m, I (very drunkenly and randomly) walked to a point in a bit so no-one saw it until the next morning and by then the birds and animals would have had a go at it.

Very weird

27. oooh, oooh.
Saw something on Darren Brown last night (this street psychic/psychologist/hypnotist). He put a grand (£1000) in a wallet on a street corner at 9am, and drew a yellow circle around it. No-one, and I mean no-one, even touched it. Very few people even looked at it.

28. Cash money...$100 bill while waiting for the bus.
I was sitting there daydreaming and I saw a pack of cigarettes on the ground. I don't smoke but something said to pick them up. Stuffed in the pack between the plastic that covers a pack of cigarettes and the pack itself was money. I saw the one and thought, oh it's just a dollar. I pulled it out and there were a couple of other zeroes! Woo hoo!!!

Had someone gotten on the bus and given some indication (freaking out, crying) and the approximate location where they thought they lost the money I would have given it to them. It was an hour bus ride home and no one got on freaking out about losing a hundred bucks so I kept it.

Can't exactly place a found ad saying a hundred bucks was found...how is someone actually going to prove THEY were the ones who lost it? Not like there was a wallet around it.
