1. We Just Got A Fuji For $100 From Walmart AND IT KICKS ASS!
it's better than the Kodak DX3900 we got a couple of years ago.

Of course the Kodak came with more stuff you can do once pix are in your computer...

Buy the Fuji and you will NOT REGRET IT!

You can crop photos and adjust brightness ON THE CAMERA before downloading.

Easy to use. Joy to work with.

6. I'll keep it in mind....

...I've got an old Canon that cost $800 about 5 years ago. It's still nice, but the battery door is busted and it's kind of clunky compared to the newer models.

9. SKOOOO! If You Get This Camera-Take Note
actually when using ANY digital camera remember this:

previewing the picture with the LCD Display EATS UP BATTERIES.

Turn that feature off immediately whenever it comes on.

This camera is good for up to 5x7.

Ideal for those who want one to do snapshots and are on a budget.

8. good camera
Edited on Sun May-09-04 05:54 PM by Kellanved
I have the almost identical 2600z and am very happy with it. I used it frequently in the past three years, and it did perform to my satisfaction - not quite perfect, but as expected.
The pictures are not great, but it is a good camera for snapshots.

Edit: to clarify:
The design is a few years old and was a low-end camera to start with. However it is probably the best low-end camera on the market, it certainly was when I bought it.

3. In terms of quality,
Nikon and Sony make the best. For both picture quality and hardware quality. (If this camera is to be used for more than a few weeks, get one with a polycarbonate casing, not a cheap plastic one. Also look for a glass lens, not plastic.)

Kodak is reasonable, but not great.

I can't stand Canon or Fuji.

I can't wait for Motorola to get into the market, their delay seems significant.

15. Not a woman.
A guy. And I'd already known him for a while. Okay, a short while, but a while nonetheless. :-)

7. This is what I just bought.

Olympus Camedia C-5000 5.0 Megapixel with zoom and I can use it with the lenses I have for my old film camera.

I paid $249 for it, and 49 for the extended warranty.

Here's the link:

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/discountsonline/olcaczo50me.html

Mine is refurbished, but with the warranty, I'm not worried.

DO NOT BUY HP. I had an HP that died; they refused to repair or replace it, even with my sales receipt, because THEY had reused the serial number and said it was out of date. (I bought it in Aug 2003, it died in April 2003, they wouldn't touch it, since they said it was manufactured in Feb 2002 - before that model was even in production, says my friend who works for HP.) Their customer service is terrible.

11. Whatever you buy, buy it from one of the discount houses in NJ or NY
you will save a bunch of money. I never buy electronics in house I save 30-40% going through the discount houses.

Use www.mysimon.com or something similar.

12. I just bought a Kodak DX6440
Costed like $270-something. The images it takes are stretched vertically for some reason that I can't seem to fix.

16. Sony Cybershot DSC-P52
Has a very, very long battery life and comes with rechargable batteries and the charger. You can use regular double A batteries too.

Takes sound movies very well. I recorded a band the other night, and it was surprisingly good sound quality.

I have recorded and watched about 20 minutes of sound film, and about 30 still photos. The batteries are still fine. I use the lcd screen too.

My old camera was a toshiba pdr-3300. The batteries went unbelievably fast! It also took a long time to turn on, my sony is on right away.

Picture quality is decent. There have been a few photos I have been less than thrilled with, but I have not read the manual. It has settings for diferent conditions which will probably make a huge diference once I sit down and figure it all out.

It cost me 219.00 at Amazon.

Here's a photo I took with it the other night:
