6. SH*T!
I totally forgot! Crap! Damn! My wife's dad just came over from Japan, and I've been so preoccupied with showing him around that I totally forgot! Crap!

Thanks for the reminder - it's already late where she is. I'llhave to order her a belated bouquet for tomorrow.

7. My mom's dead
So I didn't do anything for her.

Though i did go to a performance of Durufle's Requiem tonight at my church. Odd day to do a requiem, but at least for me, it was appropriate. :-)

11. It was very well done
It was the Grace someting-or-other choir, a local Brooklyn Heights Choir. It was off a bit in phrasing, IMO, and it would have been better had we removed all the pew cushions from the pews (or at least from all the balcony pews at the church), but it still an admirable peformance. I'm only critical because that's one of my favorite musicial pieces of all time and so I am well familiar with it and have heard it in other venues.

Best peformance I've ever heard of it was at the Princeton Chapel - which I will let you know, in case you've not been there, is all stone, and long and thin - I sat in the balcony, way in the back, so that by the time the sound came to us it was totally mixed and full of its resonance. The Durufle Requiem really needs a "live" acoustical space, and the Princeton Chapel has it. My church COULD have it, but sadly, we're obsessed with the idea of having carpeting on the floor, and cushions on every pew. Our former organist and I used to pull all the balcony cushions off, but the current organist isn't into that.

Sad.

8. I just missed her.
She's upstairs, behind those pearly gates, hanging out with Sally Baron and Gertrude Jones, heavenly Democratic campaigners, doing what they can from the clouds.

"Oh that Bush*! He's such a Whistle Ass!"

My mom passed away the day before shrub was inaugurated. She was a lifelong Democrat, and a kindred spirit to those two lovely ladies whose obituaries made national news. In many ways, I feel that every effort I make to get a Democrat elected is for my mom.

17. Took Her To Joanne's Fabric So She Could Browse
and pick out some nice artificial flowers for a vase Dad got her.

She's in a wheel chair and really self-conscious about that.

Made her Italian Meatballs for dinner and we had a carrot cake for dessert.

Hung up the porch wind spinner that I got her. She really liked that.
