Accepting nominations for the official DU international national dish.

In the non-vegetarian category, I nominate fish tacos.

I think choosing fish tacos shows a respect for our multicultural population, while doing a darn good job of courting the Hispanic vote. And yet, what's more American than good ol' Iowa corn (tortillas)? Choosing fish is a good environmental choice. It says we want clean oceans, lakes and streams. Fish is a much cleaner industry than cattle, hogs, or even poultry. Fish tacos are much more hip than say pizza, hotdogs or burgers. And we are nothing if not hip.

Okay, there's my feeble attempt to be amusing. Nominate your choice for official DU dish, and make your case a whole lot funnier than mine, s'il vous plait.

Since there are no opposing suggestions, I move that we officially adopt fish tacos as the official non-vegetarian international national DUer food of choice for 2004.

That's twice that joke slipped up on me.

...Hmm, come to think of it, that's one more good reason to choose fish tacos as the official DU food. I like 'em any way you want to serve 'em up.

3. I don't know about fish tacos

I had never had them and they don't serve them at restaurants around here. My Mexican immigrant friend said that they didn't eat fish tacos in Mexico in her area and she didn't think that it was really a Mexican food, just something that some hip people came up with from California.
