Survivor's Rudy just announced
Edited on Mon May-10-04 08:46 AM by Tolania
on CBS's morning show (The Early Show) that if he wins the $1 million, he is donating half of it to the families of soldiers killed in Iraq. The families of his "buddies" as he put it. Very touching.

8. That's The Effect Rudy's Announcement Will Have
Personally, I think it's up to the gov't to come up with more money for the troops and their families.

6. So each family will end up with $625?
Edited on Mon May-10-04 09:09 AM by liberal_veteran
It's a nice gesture I suppose, but ultimately as useful to the average family as Bush's "big" 300 per family.

On edit: What I am trying to say is there are a lot of charities that could use a half million and stretch it a lot further than this.

And really, what does it say about our country when our families of fallen soldiers have to rely on private charity?

7. I think he meant donating to a charity
like Armed Forces Relief Trust (I believe that is one of the charities that gives money to the families)

I like Rudy. I was sorry to see him go so quickly this time around. I will probably vote for Rupert.

10. Sounds like a nice gesture, but it really wouldn't go very far
Our government should provide these families with a generous amount of money for them to continue on with their lives. Also, they should provide all of their children with free educations. I don't know what is done now, but from what I've heard it's not very much.
