if any does it effect the (on edit) internet speed of the primary user?

3. The signal isn't an issue.
But if they're using your internet connection, they would effectively be sharing that internet connection with you. The wireless connection between them and your wireless router, however, is usually much much faster than your internet connection.

4. wifi security is a bitch
I use a restricted MAC list (only preapproved devices are allowed on the network), but this COULD be spoofed. WEP is only useful for keeping people honest. WPA is pretty secure, I guess, but I hear it's a pain to set up.

It's a good idea to have your access point OUTSIDE the firewall.

5. Someone Could Send Threatening Email From A Hotmail Account...
... and the header information would be traced back to the owner of the ISP account... at first glance authorities would suspect the one who owns the account of being the author.
