Who still watches cartoons? Which ones?
I watch:

Jackie Chan Adventures
Static Shock
Pokemon
Yu-Gi-Oh
Shiaolin Showdown
Teen Titans
Justice League

And repeats of Tom and Jerry.

Yes, it's true. I'm a big kid.

1. I'm partial to the old WB "Loony Tunes"
I work in a children's hospital so I see parts of quite a few of the current popular ones, and they seem pretty lame next to the ones I grew up with.

6. Back to Basics......
Idiots, explosives and falling anvils!

Although, some of the cartoons with the stereotypical cariactures of minorites are a little uncomfortable to watch.

12. I agree, but
the "politically corrected" versions of these toons (like the ones you see on Turner) are even worse, for a number of them are edited and censored beyond repair. I think it would be more fair to just retire the more offensive ones from broadcast airplay.

And we will assume 'here' is short for 'here I am...rock you like a hurricane.'

Ignignot: Oh, nothing, it's cute. We have five.
Err: Thousand.
Ignignot: Yes, five thousand.
Err: Don't question it!
Frylock: Oh, yeah? Well, I only see two.
Ignignot: Well, that sounds like a personal problem.

8. Aqua Teen Hunger Force
ATHF is the bomb.

Also I have come up with a theory that "Master Shake" and George W. Bush are kindred spirits.

Both supremely confident men of action who do not possess even a shred of intelligence or common sense.

Come to think of it, Zap Branigan also may belong in this group.

10. Question about Samurai Jack
Is the series over? I never see it on Cartoon Network any more. If so, did they finish it off in proper style (in other words, does Jack have a final showdown with Aku?)

15. Let me limit myself to recent productions
Invader Zim
South Park
The Simpsons
Spongebob
Futurama
Batman
Superman
Justice League

Current anime tends to bore me to death, although I find myself liking Cyborg 009 nowadays.

I get the "Hunger Force" part, but what's up with the "Aqua Teen" part? I've watched the show maybe four times.

31. Yu-Gi-Oh is NOT a cartoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edited on Mon May-10-04 05:24 PM by Cursive_Knives512
I hate how it's been marketed in America. I have (most of) the Japanese version, and let me tell you, it is not for kids. There are several suicides and murders (one character at age 11 stabbed his father to death). Not to mention the child abuse and at least one instance of self-mutilation. (Edited to say: Don't worry, Funimation edits all of that out).

It's a good animation about how power corrupts.

Of course, I especially like it because of the (extremely) strong anti-war message in it. My fave character, Kaiba Seto, makes several anti-war speeches and remarks--he's so cool! :9

32. Well, if I understood Japanese...
I might watch it.

Here in the US it IS a cartoon. Elsewhere it's much more from what you say.

There's an episode of Pokemon where Jessie and James (Team Rocket) enter a beauty contest. In the American version it's just Jessie. In the Japanese version Jessie AND James both have boobs. It's on the net somewhere if you can find it you'll see it's rather disturbing. (Yet very funny!)

I depend on subtitles like I do for oxygen. And I know it's a cartoon, I just spring into my hyper-defensive mode automatically. :silly:
