"Power Players" Jeopardy was an embarrassment yesterday
Tucker Carlson vs. Peggy Noonan vs. Bob Woodward

Tucker won, but the interesting thing was how stupid all three appeared to be. I mean, Noonan was absolutely freakish in her responses, making all sorts of bizarre expressions and noises. Tucker had a habit of answering incorrectly quite assuredly. And Woodward looked like a goddamn deer in the headlights.

My brother, who had no idea who Noonan was, turns to me and goes, "What a fucking loon!"

It's strange. These people are the media elite. And yet they're dumber than a sack of rocks.

4. That's Peggers.
She kept on thrusting her hand up when she clicked the buzzer, like it was a damned radio or something and she was trying to get better reception.

14. Noonan
tried to bypass hitting the buzzer altogether, and just yelled out the answers without hitting it, at least one time.
And Carlson's final Jeopardy answer was totally illegible.

2. Don't have to be smart to be in the media
Just have to look good, have a good voice (most times, not always), and be able to sound confident.

Which is great when you're talking opinion.

Not so great when you have to answer (or in the case of jeopardy, ask) questions with actual verifiable answers.

6. Still doesn't explain Peggy Noonan
She's a hideous troll with a shrill, ear-splitting voice. She does have the confidence thing though. I would too if I had no soul. :)

7. If you're, what's the word, "diarrhea of the mouth" enough
that also works. Like Rush and others.

What the hell word am I looking for? Extreme? Trying to describe able to say with confidence utter lies and mistruths about the enemy. Not slanderous, though it's that...damn, there's a word and I just can't get it...

22. Logorrhea is good!
But not the word.

Outrageous or outspoken - you know, in a bizarro, nutcase kind of rightwing way - is what I was looking for.

AH! It just hit me - sensationalistic!!

Where instead of saying "I think Clinton's NAFTA plan is harmful to the economy because of point a, b, c, etc." you say "Clinton's pulling another one of his Hitlery-inspired liberal executive-order fiats that shows he'd rather have terrorists in charge of the Lincoln Bedroom than to let a decent man do an honest day's work to provide food for his family."

That kind of person.

9. best jeopardy I ever saw was Larry King
getting roundly spanked by Kareem Abdul Jabbar. There was a baywatch "actress" there too, but it was really LK v. KAJ. By the end King was so mad he wouldn't speak or even look up during the "show your answer" end part of the show. Luckily, Alex can navigate that segment with no player participation.

10. Tucker won?
Only saw the first few minutes and he was in the hole (another confusing place for him }( )

Woodward seemed drugged and I agree with the above poster he reminds me too much of Bill Kristol. (same pod manufacturer I presume.)

He was the least strange of the three. And that is saying a lot.

16. yeah, I saw through it
wait until you see Thursday, Al Franken, Keith Olberman and Gretchen Carlson (yeah, she's irrelevant) and Friday watch Tavis Smiley, Christie Todd Whitman and Tim Russert run for the basement of knowledge.

I still think Al Franken's line about the "deep Throat" question was great: "What the hell was Peggy thinking, interrupting Bob? I was hoping he'd jump in and say 'who was al haig' and then look bashful."

It was fun to watch the taping though.

21. I missed it (watching tonight)
but I understand Woodward had quite a problem with the buzzer races... having done Academic Team in the past, I can tell you that it's a pain in the ass when you know the answer but can't come up with it on time.

23. SNL celebrity jeopardy
Sean Connery: "It looks like this is my lucky day. I'll take 'The Rapists' for $200."

Alex Trebek: "That's 'therapists' not 'the rapists.' Let's skip 'therapists' and try 'household objects' for $400. And the answer is, 'You usually drink water out of one of these.'"

Sean Connery (buzzing in)

Alex Trebek: "Sean Connery."

Sean Connery: "A leather glove!"

26. Noonan was actually not bad -- WAY smarter than Carlson, who won.

Yesterday sucked. The head of the NAACP -- I can say his name but wouldn't attempt to type it -- was an absolute embarrassment. That guy used to be a Congressman?!
