American Idol Final Two will be LaToya and Diane
I think Jasmine is leaving tonight. Still don't get Fantasia--a powerful voice but she really can't sing--she can screech and hit the wrong notes, but that's about it.

Flame me if you will, but I'm going to work now and will read any responses later!

13. Quintessential?
Hmmm.... I wonder why you would say *that*. Could it be that she looks the part?

20. it's just a feeling i have about this competition.
although, not a teenager, i'm watching and enjoying it, but this seems to be really big with teenagers. using 'quintessential' was referring to more of a symbolic imagery. latoya is mature, accomplished, beautiful, 'arrived' at the onset. fantasia can be 'magnificent', and i've seen that with certain performances. 'jasmine' has the 'looks' and a good voice. as for diana, she symbolizes american idol, to me, as a total package; youth, personality (rather than looks), confidence, stage presence, heart, audience appeal, consistent growth in performance, good voice and ability to choose and deliver in all genres. all of this is merely my opinion, which means absolutely :)"nothing":)! :hi:

2. No Way.... Fantasia is the one
She doesn't screech and she doesn't hit wrong notes... I don't know who you've been listening to. She is the only one who has charisma on stage. True that LaToya has a great voice and looks fabulous... They'll both have careers. But, it's Fantasia that has real star quality.

3. I agree
When Fantasia did 'Something To Talk About' I was stunned by how good she was. That's a difficult song - and she nailed it. LaToya's just too damned generic diva for me. I like her, but she's a clone.

4. Fantasia for sure
She's unique, and can sing like crazy, and she has given the best Idol performance EVER.

She's the real deal.

6. If Fantasia CANNOT SING, Then She'll WIN... This Is A No-Brainer
The people who call in and vote are more impressed with the vocal "acrobatics" style of singing where the singer hits every note EXCEPT the correct note (in an effort to show their vocal "range").

What nobody has told the singer (or the voters) is that there are other ways to show off your range and that you don't have to do it for EVERY chorus of a song.

A song has notes for a REASON. And that reason is NOT so that the singer can make up a new tune every single time the song is sung.

Whatever happened to the pure-voice singer? Whatever happened to a singer who knew how to show off their skills at actually HOLDING a single note (rather than flitting all over the place trying to FIND the note in the first place)? Where are those singers?

Taking a song and "making it your own" is one thing... but this style of gymnastic singing goes way beyond a singer adding a little bit of an inflection or unscheduled key-change. This style of changing the WHOLE song to make it their own is just stupid.

Perhaps what they really want to do is to become songwriters and composers. Burt Bacharach can't sing either... but he made a decent living at writing a few ditties. :-)

7. Diana has not been consistent enough
for my taste.

She's great at an up-tempo song, but when she slows down she gets "pitchy"

Latoya is out!

On edit.... yet another example of the stupidity of Americans. She's a class act. It should have been her and Fantasia at the end. Tough bidness, show bidness.

11. I watched it for 30 seconds...
I didn't catch her name. She was black, damn good looking for a female, and had a great singing voice. While I was never fond of the bland pop style American Idol has watered down, she does have real vocal talent along with having a body that our modern day "visuals mean more than talent" 'society' prefers.

Would Mama Cass or Martha Wash, both with AWESOME (true awesome, not the watered down '80s slang) singing voices, have survived for 2 minutes in our plastic fantastic throwaway society?

15. How the hell did LaToya & Fantasia both end up
in the bottom 2? Are Americans tone-deaf? Or is the whole thing rigged?:tinfoilhat:

16. Tone-deaf
and I'm guessing just a bit racist.... I can't think of any other reasons... cause they are head and shoulders over the other 2.

17. Rigged and racist
But let's not forget that of the 25 or so million that watch it like 24 million are young white females. To them, Diane is probably their idol in life, which is sad.

I hope Fantasia wins, cause I really dig her voice. I think it's sexy and soulful.

21. Not fair.....
Diana has a great voice and obviously has more fans than "just" young white females.

I don't think Fantasia has THAT great a voice.

Friggin tone-deaf people.

Feed the masses a steady stream of Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears and this is what happens.

22. Latoya shouldn't have been booted this week, but she wasn't going to win
the show overall.

She's a good singer but has absolutely no personality.

But to be honest, since John Stevens got kicked off I could care less.
