what kind of gig, no matter what time of day...

there is always one usually inebriated guy (always a guy) who yells out at the top of his lungs, at least once, but usually repeatedly, FREEBIRD!!!!.

Is this something that happens only here?

It is a great guitar riff. once in a while.

2. No, sadly it's not.
I sheepishly admit to being guilty of said offense a few times myself. For some reason it seemed really funny back in college.

4. It's not the song that bugs me so much
It's the jackass at every show I attend who feels it's his (for it invariably is a "he") duty to shout "Freebird" as though that move was ever funny.
