Why do I always buy concert tickets near obnoxious people?
No, I'm not talking about my wife. :) Last night we went to see Mary Chapin Carpenter with my parents. Two rows behind us, there were three ladies who held long conversations through every quiet new song. Later, one had the nerve to start speaking rather loudly about how she thought the audience was dead, and perhaps they should move upstairs. I turned around and told her "sorry we're not living up to your expectations". Not the wittiest comment, I know, but it was the best I could do at the time.

Perhaps it's just Reading, PA. The same thing happened when we went to see the Indigo Girls at the same theater a few months ago. These groups of people can't seem to comprehend that it's possible to enjoy a show without whooping and yelling stupid comments.

Must have been right-wingers. :)

4. We had them too!
The guy was probably the most insane Mary Chapin Carpenter fan I've ever seen. Yelling unusual things rather loudly, bouncing up and down. At least he was kind of amusing.

2. For us, it's sporting events
Invarialby, we get the Loud Clapper (you know, the one who somehow manages to create a massive crash with each clap, and keeps clapping for at least ten seconds after everyone else has sat down), and the Two Women Drinking Frozen Margaritas In Milwaukee In April. They're giggly and they're on their cell phones with their sitter or their sister or whoever for half the game.

3. it happens all the time, its not just you
people are rude and self absorbed, is all.

I told this obnoxious girl to shut the * up at the Dixie Chicks concert, she was blabbing away. Afterwards, some of the people around came up and thanked me.

Jewel tells 'em to 'stick it' herself. calls 'em out, its funny

5. Mary CC puts on a great show
My husband and I went to a Joe Strummer tribute here last fall. A lot of my old punk friends played and they did the whole London Calling album and then other Clash tunes. It was great! The people sitting behind us though bitched the whole time about how it didn't sound like the real thing (??!!) and that the players weren't very good. To top it off, this was a benefit! I wanted to throw my Black and Tan on them and say, if you are so great, why don't you get up and play! I hate when people act like that.
