Watching "Fight Club" for the first time ever on DVD
Any thoughts? I was told it was a good movie and that I'd like it.
Of course Brad Pitt, nice Missouri boy, is not hard on the eyes.

3. Very few people get it ...

The movie looks like a violent domestic terrorism movie. It's actually a call to change your life and to withdraw from materialism. Another big theme is the realization that we are all mortal and hence transitional.

Some people find the movie extremely disturbing. I found it extremely thought provoking.

One thing is for sure, you will have to watch it twice in order to understand Marla Singer. The second time you watch it, you will have a completely different perspective on her.

I listened to the audio commentary and thought that the actors and director didn't really get it either. They pitched it as a "dark comedy". There is an understanding that Ed Norton's character has some extreme mental problems. But I think they spent way too much time beating on the character rather than sympathizing with them.

4. GREAT dvd. check out all the commentary tracks
i agree that some of the people in/making the movie didn't fully "get" the story.

e.g., does ed norton really die at the end?

5. I liked it
My husband doesn't quite understand why I like it so much since I usuaully don't like such testosterone based movies. I think that it is a great thinking movie. It is much different seeing it the first time compared to when one sees it again.

7. I went through a Fight Club phase a few years back
I must have seen it ten times. I can never really be sure if it's the socio-political messages of fighting the system and subversion of the 'man'. Or perhaps, I find the concept of men who can fight (never rough with women, just with each other in a consenting manner) and who get all hot and sweaty as they are bursting forth with testosterone (well, aside from Meatloaf's character anyway) a bit um....exciting in a way.

Whatever it was, I loved that movie! :loveya:

Um....drool. :7
