I intoduced one of my friends to Hebrew national and there was much hemming and hawing about the price, but after we grilled them and were bloated with hot-doggie goodness it was admitted that they were worth the extra price. Similarly, I was grilling some lunch at my brother's new house while he painted the other day and even though they were just regular oscar mayers it was good. hotdogs in the kitchen aren't as good though.
And varied franks from smaller sausage-makers such as Milwaukee's Usinger's and Klement's. And, of course, any dogs I pick up at Cleveland's West Side Market.
But of those listed? Nathan's no question.
It's the natural casing. No dog is truly great without that crunch of real intestine.
