DU ham radio operators. I'll have a special guest in my shack tomorrow.
The top guy of the Irish Amateur Radio Society is visiting a neighbor. He will be here tomorrow between about 18:00Z and 21:00Z. We plan to operate on 14.28 mHz USB. If that is slammed, I'll post the alternate in the Lounge. It has to be 20-meters, because that is the only anntenna I have up. I met him today. Great guy. Wish I could rember his callsign. His wife is a "Class A" licensee too (I take that to equate to my "Extra" licence). The CQ will be */K9STR. We will operate at 1000 watts due to the poor propagation on 20 lately.

1. Hey DemoTex
What kinda' rig you got that'll do 1000 watts? I'm currently radio-less (sub has antenna restrictions) but will be moving soon and want to get set up again. I really miss the 20 meter rag chews.

2. Total ICOM on HF
Icom 756-PRO with an ICOM IC-PW1 solid state amp (1000 watts on 220 VAC). I'm feeding a dipole cut for 14.28 mHz. My tuner will handle other 20-meter freqs, but that's it. I just need to get more wire in the air!

3. Damn. that should keep the bears, wolverines, skunks, and
cougars away from your mountain hidyhole!

Of course, you had better hope there are no F4-G's running hot in the area... that would ruin your day!

But I think the last of the f4-g's made a one-way flight to Davis-Monthian a few years ago, but, as we have learned time and time again, never say never or last when it comes to the military.

5. Never-mind the F-4 is my all-time favorite!
F-4G "Wild Weasel"

Cranked-wind, negative-di on the horizontal stabs. What a smokin' four!

4. That's enough to drool over.
Can't wait to get back on the air. I've always liked the Icom, but I'll probably skip the amp next time around. Seems kinda' strange - when I first started out in ham radio, I had a one watt homemade rig - pretty good for CW on a good day. I'd get laughed off the air with a rig like that now. Good luck tomorrow, seeya' down the road!

7. 1 watt is great! QRP is the rage.
I operate at 5 watts 90% of the time. Especially PSK-31.
