I would like the record to clearly show that the Boston Red Sox are once again in first place of the American League East.

Also for the record, this idiotic posting would not have been made necessary if not for the ludicrous post the other day by a Yankee fan making the same point when NY was in first place briefly. I know it's going back and forth all year, and keep your pithy "1918" comments to yourselves.

The Red Sox won 5 World Series Championships prior to the Yankees winning their first title in 1923. The "standings" since?

Red Sox = 0 championships
Yankees = 26 championships

But, sure, Yankee fans are likely to be upset because Boston is in first place in May (like every season).

I always say (it's not that funny or clever) that the Red Sox play like champions until Labor Day then think that's when the season's over and they go home.

I heard Chalabi was guaranteeing that the Sox would win the series this year, apparently he has some inside info.

Usually I wouldn't bother with this, but I felt it necessary to point out that the only reason the Sox are in first is because they've played one more game than the Yanks; they're a 1/2 game up.

When the Sox actually win when it counts, then you've got free reign to rub it in. Until then, you've got nothing and you know it. And it goes without saying that we Yankee fans don't need "1918" when we can chant "Game 7".
