What bug grosses you out the most?(Mods--please move to Lounge)
Edited on Sat May-22-04 06:22 PM by zanana
When I started gardening, about ten years ago, I decided I'd better get used to bugs, so I immersed myself in the insect world. I read about them, I did research, I identified the ones in my yard, I even started letting them crawl on me. I was doing pretty well, when yesterday, I was sitting in my living room watching television, when I felt something on my face. It was a Silverfish! Ugh! Augh! I screamed and swept it off my face. I still won't go near that chair. (I guess I haven't accepted bugs, after all). Are there any bugs that give you that same revulsion?

2. Not sure where you're going with this but ...
like rain and ants at a picnic, they eventually go away. In NH, black flies, many many little spiders and
poisonous brown spiders really piss me off.

7. Scorpions......hands down
I too am an avid gardener...organic at that. I'll never get used to scorpions or accept them anywhere within squashing range.

9. Garden spiders
The big black and yellow things. I never liked them. When I was a kid, one time I had to check the mail (the box was in a little pavilion-like thing) at night and I walked right into a big web at face level. They were on my face. I still get nearly sick when I see them.

10. Roaches!!! Particularly the big flying ones we have here in the South!
Most disgusting dispicable insect on earth. Maybe the South American "hissing" roaches are worse, but thank God we don't have them here. They are still "roaches" and vile.

12. Spiders and earwigs
are the worst, to me. Flies are actually the grossest, though, because they fly around looking for a chance to land on your food and take a dump and stuff.

20. Yes!
That was going to be my entry but you beat me to it. Also they stink when you squish them & their innards are bright green.

Few things gross me out worse.

19. ticks are the worst IMO
Any bug that attaches itself to people and makes a meal of your blood gets my pick. And you cant just kill them. You can aqueeze them and they dont die. Theyre really hardbodied. I hate em.

24. Centipedes
Nasty looking and fast. My b/f has to save me from them. He doesn't like me killing any bugs so he removes the offending critter. It was icky killing them anyway, their little legs would continue to dance around after smacking them.

25. Scorpions and centipeds, but spiders freak me out way more than bugs!
I have found two spiders in my house that were pretty big.... body about a half inch wide and an inch long, not including legs... big, meaty legs, not those spindly things! I SCREAMED as I squished them, and my cat just stared at me like I was nuts! She just wanted to play with them!

Centipedes, millipedes, spiders, and pincher bugs are pretty gross.
