I recommend going to http://www.etree.org and reading up on the .shn (or "shorten") format. It's a compression program for audio files that results in NO quality loss (unlike MP3 which degrades audio quality significantly).

Then download shows from either of these sources in .shn format, convert to .wav using the software from etree and then burn to CD, you will most definitely not regret it!

http://sharingthegroove.org for live shows of Dead and other bands. Most are shared via bit torrent (THANK YOU Bram Cohen!) and in .shn format. Many nuggets to be had.

I wrapped it up after Jerry died...just couldn't get into it.

But I have always loved Jimmy Herrings playing...and it might be a good time to unfurl the old freak flag...

It's not like I actually cut my hair or anything...
