So, who wants to come live in my castle?
As you can see, I've got plenty of room.

Since you're first, you get your pick of bedrooms. Do you mind living in Canada?

Where do I sign? :bounce:

Bedroom? Anything that gets some sun during the day. Oh, and a private bathroom would be nice! :-)

9. You claimed it first
so it's yours. However, you have to climb two spiral staircases to get there. Of course we can add installing an elevator to our "honeydo" list. ;-)

a suit of armor? err armour. :D I have my own sword. I can be a knight! A castle just isn't a castle without some knights to guard it.

And cats are welcome so long as they get along with Rainbowreflect's dogs. I hope your cats like catching mice. They tend to wander into the castle from the fields.

They like the tasty catnip filling.. They are not carnivore cats, I fear :(.. Maybe those doggies can be trained to "Hunt down" those mice..:)

21. One would hunt them down,
but the other would run in fear.
I once got Cody, my golden, a stuffed lion that roared when squeezed and he was afraid of it. When he would step on it and it roared, he would hide behind me until it stopped. Brave attack dog he is not.

14. I already live in Canada...
...and I'm a hobby medievalist. I can make medieval clothes for everyone. I have a cat who gets along well with other cats and dogs (really!), I can ride a horse (and teach lessons), and I can put you all in touch with anyone you want for all the armour etc. that you need. When do I move in? Can I have an upstairs room? :)

15. Great!
You bring a lot to the table. You are definitely in! You can start by making me a fancy velvet gown with a low-cut bodice, cinched waist (but not so tight that I can't breathe) and a long full skirt.

There are a few rooms left upstairs. Would you like a window overlooking the opulent gardens?

28. Erm...
Can I make you a fancy silk kirtle instead, and a fine linen chemise? Some stockings and undergarments? I don't think I have the sewing skills to do a bodice yet, unless you have a pattern drafted to your measurements already. I can cord and embroider it to make it fancy, but I don't do applique.

Sure, I'll take a room overlooking the gardens. If you want someone to muck out stalls, I'll do that, too, but you have to give me a break on boarding fees.

Have you got room?

26. I would love to have you
and your whole family stay. The stables have tile floors and each stall has a nameplate for your horse, it's own private sink with running water and a bin for hay.

Oh, and please bring your books! Did you see the library pictured above? There is WAY too many volumes on military history and strategy. I think we could stash those in everythingsxen's room and put your volumes on the shelves.

I know you like gardens. Click on the link to see those. There's a formal garden with a fountain, a rose garden and some winding natural trails in the back.

29. Oooh!
I forgot my 2000 books, but I do NOT run a lending library. Proles, you will have to give me a room with enough space for my bookcases! People caught messing with my bookshelves will be drawn and quartered! That said, ask me nicely and put them back *exactly* where you found them when you're done, and I might loan some of them out. (Actually, about 1/10 of my collection is non-loanable, and I generally loan the rest. But I don't loan the ones I don't loan for very good reasons, usually that they're irreplaceable.)

To take care of all those glorious books?

Where in Canada are we talking? Should I bring my heavy winter coat, or will a mid-weight do?

27. If LWolf
is bringing 5,000 books, we certainly need a librarian and we know how DUers all love to read. No fines for keeping materials too long, just a gentle reminder if someone else is waiting for the book.

The castle is in Toronto, so the winters get a little chilly and the summers can get steamy.

Do you have any preference for your room or would you just want to live in the library?

30. My room
nah, libraries are too dusty and I get all stuffy when I sleep in dusty or moldy places.

Hence, I'm putting in a request for a nice big bed with a fluffy down comforter and a room near a tree so my cat can stay entertained while I'm cataloging and developing the collection. Also, since I have the world's smallest bladder, a connected bathroom would be useful.

24. Do you need someone to man the trebuchet?
I'd love to be the trebuchet guy. We wouldn't use it to hurt anyone. We could just fling pumpkins with it. That would be great.

31. The job is YOURS!
You are the official trebuchet guy. But, as you stated, we will only use it to fling large garden vegetables. However, if we are being invaded by a marauding band of Repugs, you will be allowed to raid the compost pile and the horse stables. EEEEWWWW!!!

For the enlightenment of all, I am providing this definition. (What the heck, I had to look it up for myself anyway.)

What is a trebuchet?

A trebuchet is a medieval siege warfare weapon used to break down the walls of castles. It was the successor of the Catapult; it could take heavier rocks and projectiles, and fling them farther, with more accuracy. It worked by dropping a great weight that was attached to the short end of a long lever-arm.The long end of the lever was thereby raised with considerable velocity, pulling a sling that contained the projectile. The sling would increase the effective length of the lever arm, adding even more speed to the final projectile before the sling released it.
