Scorpions, Judas Priest or "none of the above"
OK, a couple of weeks ago Judas Priest released "Metalogy," a 4-CD box set plus a "bonus" concert DVD.

Today, The Scorpions released "Box Of Scorpions, a 3-CD career overview.

When these bands were at their peak, my friends fell into two categories: "take 'em" or "leave 'em." No one ever said "Oh yeah, I like SOME of their stuff." It was all or nothing...the same held true for Black Sabbath fans.

I'd like to know what you folks think.

6. i must be one of those 1%'ers...i love all three...WHERE'S IRON MAIDEN????
i can't remember how many times i saw priest...literally....but it was every album from british steel to painkiller.

black sabbath....never saw them but i own most of their cd's up to mob rules(i like dio and all, but he is to black sabbath what hagar is to van halen...imho...)

i used to have 3 scorpions lp's...yes lp's....bought a greatest hits cd a few years back. i did see them live at the '85 texas jam in the cotton bowl in dallas...co-headlined with deep purple...awsome, awsome show...one of the best i ever saw......

"day call it dah zeeewww bay-bayyyyy......"hell yeah...

again...i can't remember how many times i saw maiden either....way to much mexican sinsamillia and/or lsd...but i remember 5 or 6 different versions of eddie.....maiden was probably the most talented of the 80's new wave of british metal, at least lyricly. i can say i had a true moment of clarity while listening to "screaming for vengeance" on a whole windowpayne though.......

"buh-looood stow-wone..."da da daa daa daa "buh-loood stow-wone"
-----or-----
"up here in spaaaa-ace...i'm lookin' down on yeeeew-eew...my lasers tra-aaace....ev'rything you dooo-eeew..."great f'n album...the second of three that i consider to be their masterpieces.....british steel and defenders of the faith being the others....unleashed in the east is also vital priest....

LONG LIVE THE PRIEST!!!

13. Man. I have to get that
Sabbath Rules...and they get no respect whatsoever from the rock critic elite.

7. Priest! Priest! Priest!
Judas Priest always crushed the Scorps. The guy with the forks in his eyes is cool though.

10. Both, by god!
Seen both repeatedly, along with Maiden.... Ahh, those last halcyon days before the hair bands came in and created 'butt-rock.'

Glad you told me about these box sets. I've got most of that stuff on scratchy old vinyl someplace, but nothing to play 'em on. I may have to investigate these box sets... hmmm...

I understand JP is reunited and back on tour... anyone seen them recently?

P.S. if you like hard rock, but think you don't like the Scorpions, go d/l a song titled 'sails of charon'...

11. You know how Judas Priest got thier name?
This was right before they hit it big, in fact, they didn't even have a name.

They were jamming in a garage, and a neighbor walked over and hollered "Judas Priest! What is that racket!" :D
