Have you kept in touch with high school and college friends?
I haven't. It seems once people move away, you lose touch. It's kind of sad.

3. Due to the time of year,
and my age (high school sophomore/rising junior), I am about to lose contact (it seems) with a few friends I have made over the past few months, and it is really quite a sad thing to realize. And the idea of the same process occurring again in a year with even more friends looms over as well, creating an experience which does not seem very pleasant right now. All I can hope for it that I don't lose contact with some of them, and that at least the best of these friendships last.

5. For some reason...
...I have this happen to me a couple of times a year--someone comes up to me, calls me by my childhood nickname and maiden name, says they went to school with me, and I'm standing there desperately trying to remember who they are. I can't believe they'd recognize me since it's been 22 years since we saw each other.

Most of us left town and lost touch after graduation.

6. I met my best friend in Jr High, but we became best friends our freshman
year in HS. she is still my best friend... 22 years and counting. I still have sporadic contact with two other friends from HS, and occasional conatct (every couple years) with another couple.

My best college buddy is now a Lutheran pastor in New York, and while we only keep in touch a couple times a year, I will always consider her to be one of my best friends.

7. No. Ever been in the military?
You get close to people in your squadron, to the point to which you can tell what they are thinking just by the way they are breathing, and when it comes time to go your separate ways, you never see or hear from them again. Life's just funny like that.

10. damn
so the military (brat) experience is so similar...it depends upon the person as to how it affects one. if you're a particularly sensitive child, it will affect you more. many of us end up as loners.

9. I'm still in close contact with 7+ college friends.
We see each other at least three times a year. E-mail works wonders. I keep in touch with a couple of HS friends. The funny thing is, in college I was most sad about leaving, because I wouldn't keep in touch with friends I wasn't close to.

11. most from high school
Most of my lifelong friendships started out in jr and sr. high school, and even some of them went on to the same college in the same town). Excluding that, there are 1-2 people I met in college I even correspond with. Not that I am a teacher's pet (far from it) I do talk with my old teachers, a couple of them go to my family's church.
