This is one of my biggest pet peeves.. paying 50 cents for air to fill up a low tire. what a bunch of fucking bullshit. 50 years ago , attendants would pump your gas and clean your windshield and check your oil. now you have to pay for air.

:grr:

1. Don't snub your nose impudently at the corporate rulers of the world!
Wait for me to arrive and we'll do it together!

Edited on Fri May-28-04 10:58 PM by Beaker
you're paying for the use of the compressor...it's not like you could just get down on your hands and knees and blow it up yourself, unless you happen to be superman...or this guy:

btw-that's a hot water bottle.

6. i know what the hell i'm paying for..
NOTHING.

i won't pay for something that should be offered as a free service. i doubt they make 100 bucks a year off those machines.

3. I'm with you.....
About two months ago, I drove around for around an hour from gas station to gas station looking for free air. I probably spent several dollars in gas doing so, but it is the principle of the thing. Greedy bastards.

4. If you paid the same gas station for the wasted gas, then your choice
did have an impact...however slight.

7. People are funny...
I actually sorta understand the irritation at this. It seems like my tires know when I've just emptied all my change from the change holder and pick that moment to get low. But, still...

I worked for a lady who owned a convenience store/gas station many, many moons ago, and she refused to charge people for air. She felt about it like you do. The problem was that her air compressor was vandalized at least once a week. Normally, the hose had been cut, but a few times someone tried out their baseball batting skills on it, and once, it was used as a target for someone's shotgun.

The funny thing was that when people drove up to get their free air and found the compressor not working, they'd get royally pissed, sometimes to the extent of wandering inside and yelling at us for not providing proper service. Of course they could always just go down the road and pay the quarter or 50 cents, but they'd rather take it out on the one person in town that bothered to try.

After the shotgun incident, she decided she wasn't paying for another compressor.

12. I'm with you. I refuse to pay for air.

Not only that, I won't buy gas at a station that does not provide free air and bathroom access without having to ask for a key.

15. Yes, if they aren't willing to provide a public restroom
I'd rather patronize someone who will.
