It was pretty much what I expected.

1. I'll put this here
( Posted this on another topic that I shouldn't have. They were discussing the double standard problem and I didn't catch that. So these are a few of my thoughts on the movie )

I saw it this afternoon and I thought it was OK. I happened to love about every actor in the movie so that helped. If they had only spent more time on the actual possible science of it happening. These days CGI rules. They started up within the first minute and didn't stop. Where's the suspense?? And if I ever win a 300 million dollar lottery I would love to make a disaster movie that didn't include the following

Father estranged from son, saves son and realizes what's really important in life

Mother self-sacrificing to almost death

Best buddy dies

Someone in power totally disagrees with scientist

Wolves????

Actually, the only thing that really bothered me about the movie other than it being a Disaster 101 movie, were the damn wolves. CGI wolves at that.

Jake is sure cute though, isn't he? Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal as father and son. I want more of that!

I digress. Good movie. Worth the matinee price.

2. It was one of the better disaster movies I've seen.
Better than Deep Impact. I think the most important part of the movie is that it will start to get people to discuss the climate situation out in the open. I think this movie (along with rising oil prices) marks the beginning of the death of the SUV. I think a good analogy would be the death of Communism starting with Solidarity in Poland in 1981. It will start fizzling out. This is the beginning of the end of the SUV. I really think so.

4. DS1

Very little dialogue. But the dialogue they have is pretty good. Some funny moments. This movie is ALL CGI, but very good CGI. Good luck with your CGI artist aspirations! You'll have to check out the movie Riddick. Looks like that movie also has tons of computer generated images.

5. The CGI is real quality too.
Just exactly like how a camera would film it.

6. Thanks, there's a hell of a lot to learn
and even more specialties, and if I can just save up enough cash for a spiffy new Athlon FX-51 :7

Hey, maybe I should start a DU fund drive, and instead of you guys sending your cash to a black hole, I'll even scan the receipt so you can all know your money went where you intended it to.

If you get that last bit, you get it, if not, stick around.
