I like Margaret Cho a lot, but really... you take money for a corporate gig, you play by their rules... turning off the mike was classless and spiteful, but hardly a violation of Cho's First Amendment rights.

...didn't they know who she was when they booked her? She works blue. She's a liberal who likes to celebrate the sexual. It was their screw-up to book a blue comedian for an uptight venue.

I enjoyed her account of the evening. Doesn't sound like she was all that bent out of shape about it.

8. When someone is paying you,

you give them what they want. Who signs for a gig and then just shows up. Oh, OK, Terry Bradshaw. He showed up in a polo shirt and they made him go out and get a jacket.

Cho didn't have here rights unconstitutionally censored, she was FIRED for not meeting customer expectations.

If they paid for Margaret Cho, they should expect to get Margaret Cho. She went there and did her job, she should be given the courtesy to finish it.

Her rights may not have been violated, but I'm sure that her contract was. Maybe she should sue.

10. Wrong!

As a musician I've dealt with this issue many times. If you book "a comic" then that comic has to give you what you want, or more to the point, not give you what you don't want, i.e. blue humor. But M. Cho is a nationally known bigtime entertainer. You book her because of who she is and what she does. And if you are too stupid to find out what she does in advance that's your problem. I'm sure she got paid anyway. And it's great publicity for her ... and us dems.
