Just finished watching the best speech I've ever seen
namely, Lincoln's Cooper Union speech of 1860, as read by my hero, Sam Waterston. What got me was how timely the speech was. Lincoln talked about the divide in the country-how some wanted to ignore the intent of the Constitution, to do things that were morally wrong, and yet blame the other side for their own failings. Hope some of you got to see it on C-Span or get a tape. Shows how liberal the Republicans were back before they became the stooge of Big Business.

1. I've always wondered
Would Lincoln be able to be elected president in todays age of mass media coverage?

And would an imbecile like Bush have been able to of been even seriously considered as a presidential candidate in Lincoln's day, when politicians needed to be a lot more capable in the speaking department?

Of course Bush was never taken seriously by thinking people anyway.
