18. You can get Guinness in Texas but...
no one here can pull a decent pint. I try to get them to do it the Irish way and they say that they don't need to do that because of the taps. But the pints have weak heads that seldom make it to the bottom. By the way my vote would be to live in Ireland if I could make a living.

Edited on Sat May-29-04 10:03 PM by Gloria
Having had the good fortune to actually live and legally work in the UK back in the mid-80's, I'd say I'd go back in a heartbeat. Even with the Bush fetish of Blair, it's still got a feisty press.

Plus, I have some distant relations there with whom I can rekindle my relationship.

40. US, There are other places I could live, but Europe's down the list.
Not that I've exactly scoured Europe, but the wide-open spaces of the US and its diversity (something and some place for everyone) appeal to me an awful lot. I've lived in other countries, and the USA is still a place that captures my imagination as few others. Like I said, I could easily live in another country in preference to the US, but that contry wouldn't likely be a European one.

The USA gave the world MLK. Europe gave the world Shakespeare. Advantage: Push.

The USA gave the world Sousa and Copland. Europe gave the world Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, and many others. Advantage: Europe.

The USA gave the world Edison, Ford, and Franklin. Europe gave the world Eintein. Advantage: Push. EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT Einstein used his brain and moved to the USA. Advantage: USA.

The USA gave the world Calder and Warhol, among others. Europe gave the world da Vinci, Van Gogh, and many others. Adv: Europe.

Europe gave the world George III, Victoria, De Gaulle, Napoleon, Mussolini, and Hitler. The USA gave the world Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, two Roosevelts, Truman, JFK, Reagan, and Clinton. Adv: USA.

Europe gave the world monarchies. The USA gave the world freedom and democracy. Adv: USA.

Greece gave itself democracy. The USA gave itself democracy, but was humble enough to share it. Adv: USA.

Europe gives the world Elizabeth II, John Paul II, Schroeder, Blair, Berliusconi, Zapatero, and Chirac. The USA gives the world Bush. Adv: Europe.

Next king of England: Charles. Next President of the US: Kerry. Adv: USA.

The USA has given the world Katharine Hepburn, Gregory Peck (God rest their souls), Paul Newman, the Keatons, Sean Penn, Michael Moore, Tom Hanks, and many others. Europe gave the world Ah-nuld. But even he moved to the USA. Adv: USA.

Europe's version of football: People kicking balls, and scoring MAYBE three or four times a game. America's version: running and passing balls and scoring much more often in sixty minutesthan they do in ninety. Oh, and knocking each other silly. Adv: USA.

The USA gives its citizens the 'American Dream.' Europe gives its citizens dreams of living in America. Adv: USA.

The USA can be blamed for starting three wars: a Revolution, a Civil War, and a quagmire in Iraq. Europe? Two World Wars, a Holocaust, etc., etc. Adv: USA.

Then USA gives the world 23% of the world's greenhouse emissions, as well as gas-guzzling SUV's. Europe gives the world more eco-friendly cars. Adv: Europe.

Europe Gives the world Big Ben. The USA gives the world big people, a few named Ben. Adv: Europe.

Europe gives the world pizza, French fries, hamburgers, and other fattening things. The USA gives the world soft drinks and good Southern cooking. Now there's a combination you just don't get in Europe. Adv: USA, despite the Southern part. Just kidding, we love you Southerners!

Europe gives the world BBC. The USA gives the world Fox News. Adv: Europe.

America gives the world DU. What does Europe give the world? Adv: USA.

Europe has universal health insurance. America has 13% of its people uninsured. Adv: Europe.

Europe has blizzards and heatwaves. America is home to hirricanes and tornadoes, as well. Hurricanes and tornadoes are both dangerous and exciting to be in. Adv: Push

The USA gives the world people like me. Europe (specifically, Germany, Poland, and Lithuania) gave the world my ancestors, but they moved to the USA. Adv: USA.

USA 12, Europe 7, with Two Pushes.

USA WINS! STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER!

46. I've felt alienated from American culture for a long time
but I haven't been to Europe recently enough to make a fair comparison--my memories are those of a teenager in the 1960s.

I could easily live in Japan, though, and I find the average European to be more "my kind of people" than the average American.

I'd love to move to the US for a few years.

Having American Supermarkets (American Service) with a broader selection of European Goods, European Streets and some European Laws... now that would be a good place.

American Taxes with European Healthcare are nice idea as well.
