Okay, who feels like making fun of my web design?
It's a lazy Sunday afternoon and I'm spending the day converting a whole mess o XML files into HTML. Except the problem is, I'm a terrible web designer. I mean, I know all the HTML tags and I know how to lay stuff out but I have absolutely NO imagination when it comes to designing a web page!

I'm making two versions of all of these. One version is ADA-compliant and optimized for reader software for the visually-impaired. But the other is designed for the visually-able and that's the one I'm having a heck of a time with. So anyone with an actual sense of style care to give me an unforgiving critique. Really, be vicious, let it all out, call me names, belittle me ... only be honest--that's all I ask.

Is it too "fonty?" Too "liney?" Does it have you snoring loudly within the first few seconds? Let me know!

I'm actually going to be away from my computer until tomorrow so that gives you plenty of time to come up with some really withering comments. I'll check in Monday and cry.

Oh, and PS. Please forgive all of the geocities popups and crap. They add that to my pages not me.

1. Well, the subject is not exactly something that "grabs"
the interest of the average surfer.
Having said that, it wouldn't hurt to add some color and maybe divide
the text into smaller sections, each with its own title.
...Also...try to find some visual stuff such as pictures of meetings, workers and such.

With the subject you have to work with, you've got your work cut out for you!

2. Pictures
I'm only converting what was given to me into HTML. But I do know there are lots of images for these, usually portraits of the people being interviewed and sometimes others. I'm really bad with pictures and when I get them I'm going to have a hard time figuring out how to put them in.

Now, text into smaller sections. That's an interesting idea, and that's something I can actually do.

As for color, I'm afraid of color! I dared to put that one series title in blue but it makes me nervous. Still, that's the most obvious place to start spicing these things up.

Thanks for taking the time to look!

4. Radicalliberal has a point
I should probably put some kind of warning in the subject that the page covers very academic dry subject matter. No great pictures of Bush morphing into a chimp ... *sigh* ... although that would be cool.

5. Make the left pane window....
static, don't allow end-users from moving the border.
Other than that: simple, yet effective web site. :toast:
