Where is my remote?
I am looking for the remote and can't find it. Does anyone know where it is?

2. I have it
I thought you wouldn't mind if I took it for a while.
I seem to have lost mine.

You can come and get it back if you so please.
I'm in New York.

3. Did you walk into another room with it and set it down?

4. Did you look under the couch?
I think I see it, there under the couch. See?

5. Maybe this should be a poll. My husband crushed our remote the other...
...day, in the mechanism of the recliner. It was so mangled that it looked like he melted it.

6. Did you check between the headboard and mattress, or between
the headboard of the bed and the wall?

Do you have dogs or ferrets in your house? This affects the differential diagnosis of the fate of your remote.

8. Yeah, the fridge! Look there. Then try
the base receiver for the telephone handset (hint, if you are trying for ESPN and keep getting someone from Hong Kong talking out of the remote, this might be your problem). Make sure it is not in the washer or dryer, or in a pants pocket. Make sure you have not taken it to the car. If you are trying to change channels and notice that the garage doors are up and down and up and down, this might be your problem. Look under the pets, especially if every time they stretch you have "Animal Planet". Look under your housemates. Check every crevasse and they may like this too much unless they are not in the mood.

If none of these suggestions work, wake up the entire household running from room to room emitting a high-pitched wail. Think "Rainman" here.

Find the remote control in the box of crackers you so tidily put away.
