1 1/2 years later the psycho WEDDING NIGHTMARE continues-the photos
No no photos in this thread but we got the "finished" photos back this weekend and they are all screwed up. Everyone took longer than usual to decide what they wanted and the photographer took a while to finish them. Well I say finish them except:

The church we got married in magically changed colors. The aqua green carpet and seat coverings (not too attractive to start with) are a brilliant blue in the photos-my mother's set is actually closer to the actual color than our set.

The bridesmaids dresses went from a maroon-ish color to flat out purple, in some of the photos, less purple in others.

There is a blue haze/tint to the background and my and my grooms mens' tuxes look blue in some of the shots. One of my best men is clearly out of focus.

My mother got some shots she didn't order and didn't get some she did.

My mother's "book" is a gorgeous brown etched leather while ours is a crappy looking blue thing that says "Our Wedding" on the outside and looks like you could pick it up at K-Mart.

The proofs looked great but as we went through them yesterday there are obvious changes made and my wife thinks some of the photos were scanned into a computer and then reprinted.

Oh yeah the color of my wife's wedding gown (which everyone agreed was stunning) has suddenly changed to ALL WHITE when it really wasn't. Also some of her staged photos done a couple of weeks before the ceremony are cropped off center.

Great now we have to go through this! And I thought the whole thing was over. My mother-in-law didn't seem to think anything was wrong with them............see the shots of her son look just great and that seems to be all that matters. We found at least one photo (my wife and my mother) that we requested was changed to one of my mother-in-law and her son coming down the aisle. His picture on OUR WEDDING DAY is prominently featured in the entrance of their house while THEIR ONLY DAUGHTER's full gown photo is around the corner over the piano no one plays with no light shining on it.

:grr:

1. WTF?!?!
DId you have references for this "photographer"? What's up with changing colors? Scanned images?

Yikes, I bet all this "service" wasn't cheap either.

3. "Several thousand dollars"
My wife said, she was so PO'ed that she couldn't remember how much we had paid him. Everyone who saw the proofs loved not only the quality of the shots but the shots he had taken (from the upper seats of the church) the proofs looked great.

We are going to document all of the errors and then go to his house and demand the money back AND the negatives and have them done ourselves.

5. At least you've got some pictures.
We got our "proofs" a few months after the wedding (to use for ordering), but later discovered he had lost the negatives.

We're getting to the point where I can scan the proofs and get reasonable quality reprints from a photo printer, but it really is't the same.

I understand there are insurance products now that will gurantee photos for you. Even to the point of rounding up the wedding party and guests, flying them to the wedding site, renting tuxes etc, and re-shooting the whole thing.

We probably wouldn't have opted for the insurance anyway plus it is too late now.

Sorry to hear about your photos and all. I hear that either the caterer or the photographer is the main screw up at most weddings.

6. Well at least you survived the wedding
and are still married.

I really hate large weddings. If I ever get married we will wear overalls and get married on a hill with just a couple of people.

7. We should have eloped
Seriously we got engaged in LA in Feb 2002 and talked about driving to Vegas and getting married. No her mother would want a church wedding..........let the insanity begin. After it was over we told her parents about almost eloping and her father said, "If you had done that we would have just written you a check for what we spent anyway".

Then we REALLY knew we should have eloped.
