Bet you all wished I stayed on my DU break
 My odds of that turned out like Smarty Jones...

Going to be busy again though... I am going to be covering for a co-worker who abruptly had to go on long-term medical leave. Crunch time, and new learning to be had. Having fun anyway, and love the new employer.

After the Reagan flame wars (of which I partook greatly, and I am amazed that the Great Prevaricator could instigate such division, even on DU), it is probably time to lay low again.

Late night ZombyCoffee anyone? :hangover:

Hey, I'm GLAD you stand up against the "speak no ill of the dead" crowd.
Hey, I read "Sleepwalking Through History" and I don't think that man deserves ANY respect.

3. that's a GREAT book!
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 11:21 PM by ZombyWoof
And if you can find it - out-of-print - Paul Slansky's "The Clothes Have No Emperor". A cure for the whitewash and lionization!

12. Oh yes I will!
I hate Absolut! :puke:

Now, if you were to put your name on a bottle of Belvedere....

13. how about Grey Goose?
That's some fancy French stuff, from what I hear. And it pisses the freeps off to buy French.

Frankly, I don't mind vodka, but I can't tell the damn difference. More of a whiskey man myself. Those I am picky about!

14. I like Grey Goose
Though being the Polack that I am, I tend to be a little nationalistic when choosing my super-premium vodka. But when Belvedere or Chopin, isn't available, I usually go for Grey Goose.

Are you more of a bourbon person? I'm visiting XNASA's house tomorrow and want to bring something nice. He normally drinks Bookers, but I'm open to more super-premium suggestions, if you have any. :-)

15. I'm a Polack too!
THAT'S why we get along! :-)

Well, you could try Knob Creek or Wild Turkey Rare Breed.

Damn, now I am thirsty...

19. Would they be similar in style to Bookers?
Not being a huge bourbon drinker (though I enjoy a Makers neat every now and again), I just want to make sure to get him something in a style he prefers. WWZD? (what would Zomby drink?)

20. I have never had Booker's
I drink Tennessee Whiskey - namely Jack (the Single Barrel being their top-of-the-line) - much more than its Kentucky cousins. (By law and custom, it can only be real bourbon if made in Kentucky, like Scotch is made in Scotland, etc.)

So... since you know Maker's Mark, then go with the Knob Creek, which is 11 years old and highly rated from a variety of sources. WWZD being a good one, lol. ;-)

2. Hey, ZW-
I didn't know you'd gotten a job, that's great! Sounds like you enjoy it as well. I still don't have one yet after two months of desperate searching and I'm panicking here, but I'm glad to see that you have one, I know how frustrating it was.

6. I kept quiet about it
Although CatWoman posted a big thread (she likes to embarrass me that way). All I can say, is after 2.5 years of temping or nothing, I do NOT wish unemployment on anyone. Fucking hell.

16. You're not kidding.
And I ain't gettin' shit from any of the temp agencies I'm listed with, about ten of them; some general, some legal. I've NEVER gotten anything from them, actually, anytime I've needed a job, and I ain't gettin' anything now. I'm almost at the point of driving my car off a cliff, because I can't take much more.

The last time I was unemployed it took eleven months to find something, and I only got that job because a lawyer at my church needed a paralegal to fill in for his secretary on maternity leave; I got lucky when she decided not to return. That's the one I was laid off from. I simply CANNOT take it for that long again, I just can't, especially as a single parent still living with my parents at this age.

I wish to hell that I'd gotten a teaching certificate instead of a paralegal certificate; if I'd known then what I know now, I never would have even considered getting a paralegal certificate. I would have used the time it took to get the certificate to get a teaching license instead, since I already have a B.A. in history and sociology. Too late now, though, I guess.

5. I was gonna play, but I read the threads and thought...
nah, I lived through this shit once. You can't win an arguement about Ronnie, he was a funny SOB even if you hated him (unt I did!) and they would always throw that in at the last minute.

Personally, I think the fascisim we are facing now is his direct effect on our society, and I hope history judges him very harshly.

No ZC for me tonight, dude. I have to go paint a bedroom in the morning.

But thanks for being out there on the DU front lines tonight.

I posted what I felt was a casual thread about the flame wars themselves which has garnered 90 posts and counting, lol.

Far more, um, in-your-face was my "Reagan's Legacy: The ZombyTroof Edition". Both are over in GD. :D
