my scenic commute
i cross over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge going to and from my new job. it is beautiful bridge, and a great view, the entrance to Tampa Bay is full of boaters when the weather is good. and tho my commute from St Pete to Port Manatee is 25 miles, 21 of that is on I-275 and i'm at work in about 20 minutes :)

anyone else have a scenic commute?

1. That is truly beautiful.
I'm jealous. My commute is 50 miles of interstate, although once outside Nashville, it's pretty.

5. it is a good place to live.
st pete really is a charming little city. laid back and ok with itself, unlike tampa pretensions image of being big time (it's not!)

i live close to downtown and rents are cheap. and the city is great for my hobby of urban treking on my mountain bike! :)

3. Is that first pic real??
Sheesh, that looks like CG -- wow, I keep forgetting how clear the sky can get. Living near DC can do that.

My scenic commute consists of the occasional pretty jogger along the road to my office building. At least the view from the office is somewhat scenic (7th floor with no tall buildings blocking my view). From my office it's mainly parkland, and from some of the other offices we look out towards Washington. Except for the haze this time of year, it's not too shabby.

4. I traveled over that bridge a few times in my treks to FL
It's a beautiful area, there is nothing like wide water to relax and calm the soul.

7. there are actually 4 bridges across Tampa Bay
most of the bay is too shallow for ships, so the other 3 bridges aren't nearly so tall. I-275 crosses tampa bay twice. the other is the Howard Frankland, known as the Frankenstien when it was 1 span.

9. Ha!
it would take longer than 15 min. to get to your 'hood.

will hook up soon. i'm a little grungy around edges when i leave; the plant itself has no a/c and right now i'm speanding alot of time on the floor getting aquainted with what goes on out there.

10. I walk three miles beside forest and stream.
With views of Puget Sound, the Olympics and the Cascades. I see deer, racoons and possum all the time. When it rains I use an umbrella. 45 minutes at an easy pace. Oh yes, I gorge on fresh wild berries from June until September. (The Himlaya berries are especially fine right now!)

11. I used to commute over the Golden Gate
now just go from Bloomington to Indianapolis - the latter just isn't quite so scenic.

13. Going over Kerr Dam
I get a fantastic view of the largest lake in NC and VA, for several miles. The countryside on either side of the lake is rolling and wooded with occasional architectural gems. Whenever I feel sorry for myself having more than an hour's drive to work, I remember what a pleasant drive it is. Also get views of Lake Gaston, and cross Kerr Lake at Clarksville again (but the view is somewhat compromised by bridge construction right now.)

14. I commute once weekly to San Diego
For 40 miles of the trip I pass some of my favorite surf haunts:

and a nuclear power plant that makes me think of...well...triple D's

16. LOL I've passed that power plant many a time
It always leaves me conflicted. I mean, I'm not crazy about nuclear power but, ahem...

15. Lovely Bridge
I think the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge will look a lot like that when they're finished with it.

Re: my commute...I look out over the Pacific Ocean and the SF Bay every day on my way to school. I love it. Best view in the world imho. :)
